What’s your one thing for forests? Let’s make it a habit.

Healthy forests are essential for all life on earth – ours included – and crucial to fight the climate and biodiversity crises.

This week, we celebrated forests globally, showcased their benefits, and shared ways to protect them. We amplified ways you can help too, even if you live or work far away from a forest.

Let’s keep going.
Let’s keep each other accountable.
Let’s make sure our forests stay forests.

What do our FSC-certified products mean?

The FSC-certified material we use in our paper/board shows our commitment to forests and those that depend on them. Choosing FSC-certified is our one thing for the forests.

Independent third-party evaluations confirm that the forest material in FSC-certified products comes from FSC-certified forests, or other reclaimed or controlled sources. This means

- no illegal harvesting
- no human rights violations
- no destruction of critical ecosystems

Forests are home to millions of people, plants and animals. Millions more people live in cities and towns, disconnected from forests. But healthy forests and ecosystems help us no matter how far away they are. They also drive economic growth.

Ecosystem services are the various benefits that humans derive from healthy ecosystems like forests, and they are valued at $150 trillion. That’s twice the world’s GDP.

If we lose our forests, we lose much more than biodiversity. And yet more than 50% of natural ecosystems are already declining.
Do one thing for forests. Do one thing for all of us.
Do one thing by sharing this post.

There are many things we, as individuals, can do for the forests. None of these require living close to a forest and anyone can get involved. Choose your one thing for forests today!

Look for the FSC logo: You’ll see the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo on our paper profiles/product pages. It means that the forest materials in the product support responsible forestry.

Silence your phone and get outside: The apps on our phones are consuming our time and money. By spending this time outside (in nature if you can), you’ll not only shop less, which will reduce your environmental footprint, but you’ll find a renewed appreciation for nature.

Shift your shopping habits: Consider secondhand options or fixing things yourself.
Switch up how you eat: Adding more plants to your diet will reduce the pressure on the world’s forests.

Tell a friend: Spread the word about the importance of sustainable forestry to advance our collective mission for the world’s forests.

Visit fsc.org/forestweek for more and share this information widely.

We are losing about 10 million hectares of forest per year. And only one quarter of the 4 billion hectares of global forests are currently protected or certified (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)). If we want to address climate change and biodiversity loss, all of us – companies, organizations, individuals – need to step up for forests.

What is the one thing we are doing for forests?

We use FSC-certified materials to contribute to a future where forests and forest-dependent communities thrive.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification means the forests where FSC-certified products come from are managed to protect or enhance biodiversity and critical ecosystems and prevent deforestation and degradation.

Do one thing for forests and share these facts.

Healthy, resilient forests are our best defense against the climate catastrophe. Three reasons why:

Forests absorb vast amounts of carbon from the atmosphere. Research shows they absorb twice as much carbon as they emit each year. By becoming carbon sinks, forests help to offset human-driven emissions. (World Resources Institute )

Forests enhance climate resilience. They are a buffer against extreme weather events like floods, droughts, and heatwaves. They stabilize soil, prevent erosion, and reduce the frequency and severity of landslides. They help rural and Indigenous communities adapt to climate impacts by providing income and vital resources.

If forests are healthy, these benefits multiply. Restoring degraded forests and maintaining healthy ecosystems is critical for adapting to climate change ( Environment Programme (UNEP)). Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) means forests are managed in a way that protects, enhances and restores ecosystems. Independent studies also show that carbon stocks in FSC-certified forests often increase over time.

This is why we use FSC-certified materials. Because we are committed to the world’s forests.

It’s FSC Forest Week! An entire week dedicated to:

- Celebrating our forests
- Showcasing their value
- Sharing ways to protect them

The best thing: You don’t have to live or work close to a forest to take part!

Whether you’re an individual, an organization producing forest products, or forest owners like us, there are many things all of us can do to help our forest thrive, so we can thrive in return. This week, share one thing you are doing for the forests.

One thing from all of us. A movement for our forests.
