E-Ko Tours Wildlife Adventures. Let us educate and inspire you and experience the true magic of the Marlborough
(275)

E-Ko Tours is located in Picton, New Zealand, and we run excursions along the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound. We offer a range of guided tours from $49 focused on the local nature and history. During our Wildlife Tour we commonly come across a range of bird species including the rare king s**g, South Island saddleback, and little blue penguins. We're always on the look out for marine mammals like

the endangered Hector's dolphin! Here at E-Ko Tours we are proud to follow the Marine Mammal Protection Act 1978 and the Marine Mammal Protection Regulations 1992. These ensure the marine mammals of New Zealand are protected and that their conservation is a top priority. Our interactions with the marine mammals of the Marlborough Sounds adhere to all regulations and our conservation focused tours, educate and raise awareness. We are fortunate enough to hold permits to swim with three dolphin species - bottlenose, dusky, and common dolphins - as well as the New Zealand fur seal. For information on these and our other tours, please head over to our website www.e-ko.nz or give our friendly receptionists a ring on 035738040.

Tucked deep inside Queen Charlotte Sound, Ship Cove is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to explore in the Marlborough Sounds.

The journey there is just as special as the destination, with the chance to encounter some of our incredible local wildlife along the way.

Once ashore, take time to explore the sheltered bay, walk through the native bush, and learn about the important Māori and European history connected to Meretoto / Ship Cove.

It’s a fantastic day out for anyone who loves wildlife, history and getting into the quieter corners of the Marlborough Sounds.

Blumine Island/Ōruawairua: close to Picton, worlds away in feeling.

As one of the very special places in the Marlborough Sounds, Blumine is where nature has space to breathe. Keep your eyes open for rare birdlife, including the iconic King s**g around the rocky coastline and the bright, energetic orange-fronted kākāriki among the trees.

Book your half-day tour to search for the birds, or a full-day adventure exploring the island's history and native flora and fauna, experience a quieter side of the Sounds that many visitors never see 🌿

July and August can deliver some of the most impressive wildlife encounters of the year in Queen Charlotte Sound. When large schools of fish gather, multiple species work together in a spectacular natural feeding frenzy:

Gannets dive from above, dusky dolphins drive the fish toward the surface, and seals and seabirds join the action, and so many more.... Every encounter is different and completely wild.

Winter also brings calm waterways, clear days and excellent viewing conditions. With the sheltered Marlborough Sounds and E-Ko’s No Seasickness Guarantee, it is a comfortable way to slow down and appreciate nature at its best 😉

Dusky dolphins (Aethalodelphis obscurus) are one of the most exciting wildlife encounters in the Marlborough Sounds.

Fast, social and highly energetic, they are known for travelling in groups, leaping from the water and often approaching vessels to bow ride.

Every day is different in the Sounds, but when duskies appear they can quickly become the highlight of the day!
