World Vintage Rugby

World Vintage Rugby The emphasis at Vintage Rugby Carnivals is on enjoyment (on and off the field).

Participants, whose ages will vary from 35 to 80+, can ‘compete’ at the level they wish to play. 2004 was the kick-off of Vintage Rugby in Limerick, Ireland and following successful carnivals in Buenos Aires, Christchurch and Cape Town the World Vintage Rugby Carnival is far from over. Vintage Rugby is a fresh, friendly style of veteran rugby, dedicated to preserving the spirit and tradition of Ru

gby for mature players, supporters and referees.Vintage Rugby is all about honouring the game and honouring each other. Vintage Rugby provides the chance for teams, players and referees to enjoy games in the Vintage Rugby style against teams from all over the world. It is an opportunity for passionate former players of all shapes and fitness levels, to relive past glories on and off the pitch. It provides the chance for those over the age of 35 (two men’s sections Over 35 and Over 46) who still hanker to scrum, ruck and maul with their mates against rivals from around the world. World Vintage Rugby Carnivals are friendly, exciting and full of fun events held every two years at venues selected by Vintage Rugby players and their partners. Carnival programmes are planned to provide players and their partners with an enjoyable Rugby experience through an innovative, cost-effective and relaxed social programme.

It’s with sadness that we write to inform you that the World Vintage Rugby Carnival that was scheduled for September 2022 will not be taking place at that time.

Complications from Covid and the impacts more recently of Omicron around the world, the lack of rugby activity in many countries, travel hesitation and the subsequent health concerns from many of our teams have combined to force us to reach this decision.

We appreciate the keen interest and the messages of support from our Vintage Rugby community but in the end, we have chosen what is in the best interests of our teams and for the long-term picture for our community.

We’ll be in touch soon about the next opportunities that exist as we will look to engage you in the decision-making process moving forward.

For those that are keen to get into travelling and rugby as soon as possible, the Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival will be held in Perth in March 2023 – there are 49 teams entered already – you can check the Festival out here – www.goldenoldiesrugby.org

For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the GO Sports and Events Team

All the best, Mike.

Just a follow up in regard to the World Vintage Rugby Carnival in Hawaii this September, will you and your team be joining us?
Is there anything that I could do to get you and the team there?
