VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR OUR GLOBAL AGENTS WITH NZ ARRIVALS FOR THE NEXT MONTH.

Kia ora,

Further to previous information regarding the restriction on travel into New Zealand the Government have this evening announced increased measures which will come into force at midnight tomorrow (Sunday 15th March), and will be relevant for anyone arriving after that.

The new guidelines are a means to prevent New Zealand from experiencing a spread of the Covid-19 virus and mean that everyone arriving into the country will be required to register with Healthline (‪0800 358 5453‬) and then self-isolate for 14 days. This will be valid for 16 days, when it will be reviewed further and possibly extended.

NZ Immigration hasn’t been updated as yet - but some information is below on the Ministry of Health website:

https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-novel-coronavirus-health-advice-general-public/covid-19-novel-coronavirus-countries-and-areas-concern

As this is an evolving situation and we are awaiting more details, we can update you further as we receive information.

https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/everyone-entering-new-zealand-required-isolate-cruise-ships-banned

With this news our mutual clients would not be able to enjoy New Zealand freely so we would advise that their best option would be not to travel - but perhaps postpone their trip until we are beyond the effects of Covid-19

Many thanks

Karen

*Road Closures Update*

WEST COAST – SOUTH ISLAND
The New Zealand Transport Agency has made great progress with State Highway 6 (SH6) and it is now only the section between Harihari and Whataroa that remains closed. The estimated reopening date is Christmas.
The section of SH6 between Franz Josef and Fox Glacier will be open from 8:00am daily and close overnight from 8:00pm. Repair work is still underway, caution is advised whilst travelling this route.
The Section of SH6 between Fox Glacier and Haast is now open and caution is advised due to slips and washouts.

CANTERBURY – SOUTH ISLAND
State Highway One is now open and operational. The road is open at the Rangitata River Bridge. There is a 30km/h temporary speed restriction in place due to an uneven surface. Road users are advised to take extra care when travelling along this route.

Please note our teams are monitoring the situation and working on relocating clients that are due to be in the region between now and the estimated opening date. If you have any questions regarding specific bookings or would like a list of your bookings affected please contact our Reservations team via email [email protected]. They are currently working on files due to travel to the West Coast on 18th December 2019.

The next update on the roads will come out when the road completely reopens or if the situation changes due to bad weather.
