Ngl, we kinda rock at road trips. The Virgo in me loves to perfectly pack enough outfits & layers into our individual cubes. I plan out meals and prep accordingly. I choose a few adventure ideas with backup plans, and keep most of the schedule open for playground time, weather changes and to see where the days take us.
For this particular trip with Thrifty Car Rental New Zealand we knew the forecast: rain, rain and more rain, but that didn’t stop us from jumping out of the car in a storm, dancing as the rain drops fell, on-lookers questioning our sanity, soaked to the bones without a worry knowing our car hire was warm and full of spare clothes. We cruised the famous Fiordland roads, seeing the waterfalls cascade in all their glory, jumped in puddles, made the car bounce with frequent raves, and steamed up our little home base in Te Anau for days.
Sometimes the perfect plans don’t work out, but these unplanned, mayhem moments are the ones I’ll be taking to my grave.
