Here are my Top 10 things to do while here in beautiful Queenstown:
Skyline and Luge
Earnslaw Steamboat cruise and the add on of farm tour and morning tea or later cruise you can include lunch or dinner.
Drive to Arrowtown and have a look through this historic town and Chinese village.
Beautiful short walk (approx 45 mins walk) β drive to the end of Kelvin Peninsula β when you reach the end where the golf course is veer to your right and park down by the beach. When looking from beach out to water turn left and you will see a path that takes you around the point β it's a stunning walk and you see sculptures along the way.
Drive up Coronet Peak to Ski Base - on way up go left at Skippers Rd and go up the gravel road about half a km to view into Skippers Canyon....go back to Coronet Road and continue up to Ski Base - I think you can get chair lift up to top and mountain bike down but unsure if this is operating at the moment (summer).
Drive out to Glenorchy at the head of the lake Wakatipu and carry on to the start of the Routeburn track....its a stunning drive from QT.
Drive up to the top of the Remarkables (which you can see from your window) the road is now sealed almost to the top...go all the way up to the Ski Base, park up and go for a 1 hr walk each way to the very top of the Remarkable Mountains....amazing views...stunning. The track is near the Ski Base building and goes off to the right - will be signposted. Summer only...be very aware of bad weather β take a jacket in all seasons.
An amazing day trip we love doing and all our family and friends love it: drive through Kawarau Gorge to Cromwell (stop for a look at Roaring Meg on the way), when you come out of the gorge theres an amazing fruit shop Jone's best I've ever been in if you want some yummy fruit - cherries in summer amazing...and along the main road from there you will see Highlands Motor Racing you can go in and have a look around down my go carts, you can pay to drive a racecar and theres an amazing car museum also with a car worth 4.5 million on display, continue to Cromwell - go to Old Cromwell Town you will see signposted turnoff main road....after that turn right and go to Clyde Dam and drive through Clyde historical township....out the other side continue to Ophir, then Cambrian, then St Bathans (Blue Lake) an historical goldmining town and haunted pub....if you have time after this then a must do is Poolburn Dam you would need a 4wd for this but it is not a rough track...but not really suitable for a car.
Doubtful Sound Cruise β remote, untouched, stunningly beautiful and good for the soul β leaves from Manapouri near Te Anau....only one or two tour operators allowed in Doubtful Sound so it is tranquil. Similar to Milford but without the crowds.
