While temperatures are above zero around the network, the Crown Range currently has snow flurries sprinkling down at the summit. This isn't settling yet so it isn't a problem right now, but there's a snowfall warning in place until 6.00pm tonight and conditions could change quickly.

Happy Sunday! We’ve got cold and icy temperatures across the district ranging from -5 to 1 degrees. There is a mix of wet and dry roads, with grit and CMA applied to the usual spots across the roading network.

The last day of June brings a mix of damp and wet roads across the network and reports of BLACK ICE on the Crown Range Road.

With temperatures sitting below 0°C or heading there and roads being wet in most parts of the district, there's a high chance of ice forming come daybreak. Roading crews have gritted a lot of key routes to help keep our roads safe once daylight is here, but it's important to still drive with care.

The Crown Range had a fair bit of snow overnight and crews are working hard to ensure the road is safe to drive. At this stage we are requiring chains to be fitted for those heading over and crews will be at either gate to ensure drivers are abiding by this. A further update is expected sometime aft...
