The fun begins as soon as you climb aboard one of our amazing WWII Military Landing Craft (known as Ducks), where you will meet your legendary 'Conducktor' who is in charge of your guided tour. Come and join us on our 90 minute scheduled Rotorua City & Lakes Tour or our “All New” 120 minute Tarawera & Lakes Tour. On both tours we explore the most famous of Rotorua’s lakes and its landmarks. The highlights include; informative commentary, 'splashdown' onto 2 or 3 lakes, geothermal activity, Maori Culture, history of Rotorua and views of Mount Tarawera, history of our authentic WWII Landing Crafts and much more! Tours depart 3 times a day in summer and twice daily in winter. Rotorua Duck Tours is an educational and entertaining activity for the whole family and a true adventure all ages can enjoy! 🌋 June 10 marks the anniversary of the Tarawera Eruption 🌋

On this day in 1886, Mt Tarawera dramatically changed the landscape and history of Rotorua forever.

The eruption devastated surrounding villages, claimed over 100 lives, and buried the world-famous Pink and White Terraces — once known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”

Even today, the story of Tarawera is woven into Rotorua’s identity. Beneath the beauty of our lakes and landscapes lies a powerful reminder of nature’s force and the resilience of the people who called this place home.

As we reflect on this important day, we remember those affected and honour the stories that continue to shape our region.

🦆🌿 Meet Weweia – Our Feathered Friend!

Weweia is a New Zealand Dabchick (Poliocephalus rufopectus), a small and unique waterbird native to our lakes. These little birds are excellent swimmers, rarely leaving the water, and are known for their secretive but curious nature.

On our Rotorua Duck Tours, you might spot Weweia gliding gracefully across the lake, diving for food, or simply enjoying her home. She’s a wonderful reminder of the special wildlife that shares our beautiful lakes. 🌊💛
