Hey 👋

After sharing my excitement of the Woman’s Day article last year, I’d had the best intentions of posting regularly on this page again.

As many of you know, running a social media page takes time and commitment. So when life got a bit crazy 🤯 with kids, work and the farm, I decided to park it until I could give it the attention it deserved.

Well, I’m back 🤩 and I’m super excited to be here.

You may have noticed stories being shared through my account again, which I’ll keep doing. I’m back overseas now, in CANADA! It’s cold 🥶 but beautiful 😍 and l’m taking part in activities that are totally outside my comfort zone!

If you’re still keen to follow along with my travel ✈️ farm 🐄 and family life, then I’d love you to comment or give this post a like 👍 so the Facebook algorithm becomes my friend again LOL.

Awwww wow! A huge heart felt THANK YOU for the amazing response to my previous post. Definitely feeling the love, and I truly appreciate the support as I navigate this next chapter. 🙏

Meanwhile, this is a bit exciting! New Zealand Woman’s Weekly reached out a few weeks back, asking if I’d feature in a piece they were putting together to celebrate International Rural Women’s Day on 15th October.

Celebrating rural women from all walks of life, I was interviewed as a rural woman who lives on a dairy farm but also has an off-farm career. A woman who supports her farming husband 100%, milking cows, feeding calves, and getting the farm work done when help is needed; but who openly admits to feeling happier working in an office environment in town.

The article follows my journey from cancer to starting up Strong Woman, to heading back into my dream career job in the travel industry.

Shout out to my proud friends and family who have already bought the magazine, and to my work colleagues who have been super supportive of the article. My kids were the opposite, the girls said to me “Mum, I can’t believe you put a photo of us in there, this is so embarrassing” …. Teenagers! 🙄😂

The magazine is on sale NOW, grab a copy when you’re next at the supermarket. Sarah xx

Oh hey there! 👋

It’s been a while, 10 months in fact, since I last posted on this page.

Sharing the news that Strong Woman wasn’t going to be a thing anymore was tough, 😭 but I knew it was the right thing to do for myself and my family. After sharing my life on social media for so many years, it was nice to have a break.

I had thought of closing down the Strong Woman socials completely, but with people still messaging asking what I was up to, I started to think about how I could stay in touch. I came to realise that I missed the connections and friendships made through sharing on my pages.

I’m loving working back in the travel industry, my pre-kids career, for House Of Travel. I’m grateful to be part of a supportive team and have been so fortunate to be sent on some incredible trips already (pic from Salzburg, Austria last month). Trying to find a balance between having a career in town, farm life, three kids, travelling, and all of life’s commitments has been a juggle at times. But it’s all part of my new journey…

This week you may have seen the Strong Woman name change pop up in your news feed. Going forward, there will be travel inspo, family and farm life, women’s health, and knowing me, a bit of oversharing too LOL. This has never been a sugar-coated social media page, I’ve always tried to keep it real and that’s what I intend to keep doing.

So if you’re keen to follow along as I embrace this next chapter of my life, like this post or send me a message and let me know you’re still there. 🥰

I hope you’re all well, hugs and love, Sarah xx

This post has taken a long time for me to write. It’s something that has been weighing on my mind, and while I know it’s the right thing to do, it is one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make. 😭

Strong Woman was born after my battle with a rare Gynaecological cancer in 2016. In the beginning, it was more of a blog where I would share my journey back to health after being so sick. As a result, it inspired others to become stronger versions of themselves and I decided to embrace the momentum and turn Strong Woman into a business.

I qualified as a personal trainer in 2017 and ran group fitness classes on our local school field. I also started to take training sessions in the home gym my husband Mathew lovingly built for me.

With a vision of supporting even more women, I needed a platform so I created the Strong Woman website and online community. This soon became the heart and soul of the business as it allowed ladies from all over New Zealand to be supported and encouraged on their journeys.

As the business continued to grow, I needed help to create valuable content for members, and through this, I met and worked with some incredible people whom I will forever be grateful for. Thank you to Karla, Eve, Lynley, Sarka and Alicia for being fabulous trainers, thank you also to Louise and Layla who worked on our platforms behind the scenes. ❤

A large part of the content that was shared online included images and stories of my family and our lives. In the beginning, the kids were young and keen to help mum’s business (or were easily bribed 😂), but are now entering their teen years, and they don’t want to be all over social media anymore.

Our family dynamic, needs and priorities (and even our family dog) have changed in these seven years, so with huge tears in my eyes, I type this post…

The time has come to say goodbye to Strong Woman and I need you to know that this decision has not been made lightly. I am heartbroken, but I also know it is the right thing to do for myself and my family.

I will always be incredibly grateful to everyone who showed support through our social media pages, attended fitness classes, personal training and health coaching sessions, and to all the ladies who joined the online platform over the years. Thank you to my professional colleagues and business partners who supported Strong Woman, and those who invited me to speak at and be present at events and expos. You not only helped the business grow but you also helped me grow as a person.

Many highlights of this business will live with me forever: featuring on the front cover of the Dairy Exporter magazine, speaking at the Dairy Women’s Network conference, and winning the 2022 Rural Women New Zealand Health and Wellbeing Business Award. But mostly I am incredibly grateful to everyone I have met along the way, you helped shape my life and I hope Strong Woman helped to shape yours too.

So after nearly seven years, I say farewell but not goodbye. The page will remain live for now, and I may occasionally share stories if I feel inspired to do so. I am excited for the new adventures life has in store for my family and me, and I wish you all the best for the holiday season and beyond.

Big hugs and love, Sarah xx ❤🙏

Hi everyone,

If you’re a regular follower, you might have noticed that I haven’t been sharing as much as I usually do recently.

That’s because last year an awesome opportunity presented itself, for me to go back to my pre-kids career of working in the travel industry. It was perfect timing because I’d been finding farm life after Covid isolating, and I missed working as part of a team in an office.

I didn’t realise until I was back in that environment, how much I had actually missed it. It’s been a massive learning curve but I’m super grateful to be working with an amazingly supportive team of people, and I’m really enjoying the new job. 😍

Fast forward a year, and between kids, the farm, Strong Woman, and my part-time role as a travel agent for House of Travel, my plate is full 🤯(and so is my heart). ❤️

As a result, I’ve decided to hit the "pause" button on my regular social media posts for a little while. Over the next few months, I’ll still be around, sharing updates and glimpses of life. Just not as frequently.

One of the things I’m passionate about sharing with my Strong Woman community is the importance of keeping your own cup full and practising self-care. So, this is just my way of doing that for myself.

I hope you are all well. Love Sarah xx 😘

P.S. Strong Woman members still have me hanging out inside our Facebook group, you can join our community here www.strongwoman.co.nz/join for workouts, recipes, inspiration and a really supportive community.

At Strong Woman we love the saying ‘Never Miss a Monday’.

But guess what!? If you’re burnt out, stressed, sick, injured, or just feeling like your body needs REST then it’s actually OK to miss a Monday!

You haven’t failed. Yes exercise is important, but REST is super important too.

To our farming ladies who are busy calving: forget extra exercise, you’re doing enough on the farm. Instead, focus on nailing your nutrition, drinking water and getting enough SLEEP.

Listen to your body ladies and YOU DO YOU. I hope everyone is doing OK out there. 😘 Sarah xx

Making exercise part of your life means finding an exercise that you actually enjoy doing! Because guess what, if you don’t enjoy it, you won’t stick at it. Consistency is key my friends. 💯

If you love biking, then dust off that bike and get out there! If you don’t have much time, press play on your favourite online workout in your lounge. Love being out in nature? Find a local bush walk to explore. Even better, find a buddy to go with you and keep yourself motivated and accountable. Plus, friend chats are the best!

Don’t over think it, just keep things simple. You have got this! 🏋️‍♀️🚴‍♀️🧘‍♀️⛹️‍♀️🚶‍♀️

Not sure where to start? Reach out for support, PM the page any time. I'm always up for a chat. Sarah x

Pretty proud of my wee biz, gosh it’s grown so much over the years…

What started as a passion project is now so much more than that. I’ll admit, some weeks it’s not easy to keep things going behind the scenes. The juggle is real with family life, other jobs and commitments, the farm, kids sports schedules etc. Like everyone in small business I'm sure, I sometimes think “why the hell am I doing this!?” 🤪🤯 when that overwhelm creeps in…

Then I get a message like this one below, and I remember my WHY. Why I started this business in the first place, and what drives me to continue to do what I love…

Thanks Vicky, you’ve made my day. Sarah xx

“Hi Sarah. I wanted to message you to say that I was feeling down, rough day, kids were at me etc. So I pressed play on one of your workouts in the lounge, sweated out my frustrations and now feel like I’m “ME” again. Your platform has been a god send to me, not only for my physical health but my mental sanity too as a busy mum. Thank you so much, I would be lost without it now.”

Awwww proud friend moment! My friend Debs and her epic business STOKEDNZ will be on Seven Sharp tonight. 🥳

Tune in at 7pm to hear her story, of how she quit her job after a serious brain injury to start up her business, which is now a huge success. She's a total biz legend in my eyes and I'm super proud of this gorgeous human and all she has achieved!

Strong Woman has been a proud ambassador for STOKEDNZ for many years, towelies are life in Summer, we love them! Check out their website here www.stokednz.co.nz

Small biz life is hard going sometimes but it's made easier by having wonderful humans in your corner, to bounce ideas off and support you when you need it. Debs is one of those humans to me. 🙏🥰

Proud friend 🙋‍♀️ 100% all in with women supporting other women in business!
