Saturday 11th – 7PM
Not Only Fred Dagg, But Also John Clarke
Rated M • 103 mins
Celebrate the wit and legacy of John Clarke — the brilliant mind behind Fred Dagg and one half of the legendary duo with Bryan Dawe.
This warm, insightful documentary goes beyond the laughs, offering a rare glimpse into Clarke’s life through intimate conversations with his daughter, Lorin. From his childhood defiance of authority to his four-decade career skewering politics and society, discover the man behind the satire.

We are having some amazing responses to our Scavenger Hunt.
Keep those entries coming in, there will be prizes awarded a day or two after Gumboot Day and spot prizes on the day.

As you're wandering around town, keep a look out for the awesome window displays some businesses are doing. DM any pictures for a chance to win even more prizes! The spot prizes are mainly aimed at children but any age is able to enter ❤️

Gumboot Holmes would also like me to tell you some window displays have extra hidden mysteries, see if you can spot them!

It’s finally here, and the excitement is building!

The Gumboot Day Home Industries Competition is ready to welcome all your amazing entries. From this Friday at 1pm, you can start dropping off your exhibits. Whether you’ve been baking, crafting, growing, photographing, or creating, now is your time to shine.

The shop will be buzzing as entries come in, and then on Saturday from 9am, judging begins. This is when all the hard work, creativity, and care gets recognised.

With 85 trophies to be awarded, this is going to be one of our biggest and most exciting competitions yet. There is something really special about seeing our community come together and celebrate the incredible talent we have right here in Taihape.

If you have been thinking about entering, there is still time. Bring along your best and be part of it.
We cannot wait to see what everyone has created.

See the full classification descriptions at taihape.co.nz and feel free to DM with any questions ❤️

🚨 Calling all locals! 🚨

As you know, Gumboot Day is happening on April 11 and it’s fast approaching!
We’ve got something pretty special lined up this year, a steam train arriving that afternoon, bringing around 300 visitors all the way from Paekākāriki just for Gumboot Day! How cool is that?!
Let’s give them a day to remember 💛

Each passenger will be given a specially made Gumboot Day passport to collect stamps as they explore Taihape and all the fun on offer.
The organisers are so excited about this that they’d love to make it an annual event — and honestly, with this one selling out in just a few days (and already having a waitlist), we reckon that’s definitely on the cards!

Gumboot Day is shaping up to be a good one this year, so start planning your outfits now… and don’t forget the most important part - your GUMBOOTS 👢

⚠️ Now… a very important notice from the completely-official-not-at-all-made-up Gumboot Police:
Anyone spotted without gumboots may receive an on-the-spot fine 😱
BUT don’t panic, fines are payable in interpretive dance, an enthusiastic singalong, or your most convincing farm animal impression 🐄🎤💃
Refusal to comply may result in public cheering, questionable choreography, and possibly a crowd joining in… so really, it’s in your best interest to just wear the gumboots 😉
You’ve been warned… (kind of) 😄

Let’s make this year unforgettable!

Thank you to the businesses getting involved ❤️
(Your QR codes will be delivered for you to put up on Wednesday April 1st)

We are getting very close to Gumboot Day and it is all coming together beautifully.

We are looking for two more friendly helpers to join us on the registration desk for the Home Industries Competition.

Times needed
Friday 1pm to 6pm
Saturday 7am to 4pm

The registration desk is such an important part of the day, welcoming entrants, receiving exhibits, and helping everything run smoothly. It is a great way to be part of the event and see all the amazing entries up close.

This year we will be awarding 85 trophies, and thanks to our community support it is shaping up to be a really special day celebrating local talent.

If you can lend a hand, even if you are just keen to find out more, please comment below or send me a message.

We would truly appreciate your help to make this event a success for our community.
