Came home to this little surprise after some really lovely guests checked out a week or so ago.
They were great people and excellent communicators! Thing is, they didn’t mention this.
I was deep into my 4th load of washing before I noticed it. I messaged them to ask what happened to the stove top? They were super apologetic — turns out wood burners arent the best place to dry wet socks 🤭
They tried to fix it themselves — which I get. It probably felt easier than telling me. But in trying to help, they inadvertently made the problem worse.
They offered to cover the repairs. Thing is… it literally cost me $5 to fix. Would you believe a bit of nail polish remover, some scraping, light sanding and BAM! the melted sock is gone. Gave the old girl a fresh coat of paint too because I’d been meaning to paint that thing since about 2016 🤦🏼♀️
How good does it look tho!
Shoutout to Ross from Metro Fires for talking me through what to do, for making me laugh, for going above & beyond for absolutely no monetary reward and for being a customer service superstar!
Moral of the story
🩼 Accidents happen. It’s not the end of the world
🔥 Don’t dry your socks on a hot wood burner.
🫧 Always be upfront with your host.
💅 Nail polish remover. Who knew? (Seriously i did not know) 🤷🏼♀️
