Winter 🥶❄️HP Day 10: Pyjama Slumber Party

Kia ora whanau. We made it to the end of our Winter Holiday Programme. We had a slow start to the morning. We decided to put our senior girls with all the juniors to help out with the pampering, while the boys were in the kitchen on the hangi prep (Nacho Prep, but hangi prep sounds more hard work). Seniors did an amazing job with the preparation of the mince and the plates. While the Juniors glammed up and had a spa day. Heck, even the boys gave it a go. Sooo Purrittty like model. By the time we hit lunch, it’s like a tornado hit us and we were smashed, but we still ate the nachos. After a long and very informative discussion regarding the afternoon that lasted 14 seconds. We decided to call it a day and open up the foam pit and the concrete room for some fun to finish off the day.

We are done, we are done. Thank you for a fast paced Winter HP.

Winter 🥶❄️HP Day 9: Art Attack

Kia ora whanau, we are approaching the end of the 4th quarter in game 7 of the NBA finals and we are smashed. 2:30 left on the clock, backs against the wall and we get miracles coming In hot. This morning we did out art stations and the kids were on point with the collages, the arts and crafts and the time used. Quick, easy, too easy, very very easy, job done.

We move into the afternoon and we were learning a new game, Well it looks like hungry hungry hippos but we changed it up, did a few takes and got it right in the end. Job done. We invented a new game hehehe, while our other kids were in the kitchen whipping up the goooooods! We made waffles (Not as good as pancakes), so much so it tasted like an origin win the Queensland. (Not okay guys, tough loss if you are NSW). ❤ also spot if you can tell who took which photos hehehe

We are in the 4th quarter as we approach final day of Winter HP. Pyjama party on point. Bring your Pyjamas whanau. Hehehe.

Winter 🥶❄️HP Day 8: Indoor Tramp Park

It’s been a long day today, also cold, also windy but we made it work team.
This morning we left the center on our final trip for the holidays and headed to the Rotorua. Our jump session wasn’t until 1pm so we had tine to kill, arriving in Rotorua at 10:45. We had a quick snack and a play around at Puketawhero park. At 12 noon, we had lunch, quick bathroom break, loaded up in the vans and headed 2 minutes down the road for our jump session. We were socked up and ready to burn off the rest of our energy we had left over from the day. We finished at 2pm, left Rotorua a bit later, and had to make a couple of stops due to excessive puking, but all in all, we made the voyage there and back, safely.

Where do you find this energy late in the second half of holiday programme and how do we give it to the warriors on the back of losing Metcalf and Barnett. These kids just bring it. We are grateful 💙

Winter 🥶❄️HP Day 7: Little 🇮🇹 Cook-Off 👨🏾‍🍳

"Essere buono come il pane”
To be as good as bread. This is a common way to say someone is very kind and generous.

Our kids are kind. They are generous. Today we did a bake off. Italia styles. We started off this morning by making pizzas. They were good. The best part about the pizza making, wasn’t the pizzas itself, it was the hands that prepared them. How kind of our seniors to demonstrate generosity and kindness by helping our little ones. The kids were so good this morning. Meanwhile in the concrete room, it was all gas and no brakes. We did some pasta races and some other cool activities to round out the morning.

This afternoon saw us head into the activities with some spaghetti pasta station and some decorating with penne and other crafts stuff. How the fun of using food to decorate has returned to us. The kids were amazing. Very grateful we got to share this experience with them today. Many hands make light work, but many souls help those in need. Thank you seniors for your efforts today!

We are out of the center for the final time this holidays tomorrow. We are loading vans up and leaving the center at 9:25am sharp. Please be on time as we don’t want to miss out on our trip and have to cut it short.

Winter 🥶❄️HP Day 5: United Cinema

We back for final week of HP. Today we were at the movies. TBH not a lot of photos to be taken, but if you can imagine the chaos of Bayfair, then you can understand how hectic it was. We started off the morning heading over to Arataki park to stretch the legs, have a run around and shoot some hoops. Had a quick snack before we headed to the movies to watch Elio. TBH not much comms on what the movie is about, sources say it involves Aliens, some say it could be a roux and it was just the kids watching themselves (TBH I don’t know the plot), but we had some happy kids come out of the cinema with a belly full of popcorn and some kids busting for the bathroom. Well done. Let’s run it back tomorrow.

We’ll have more photos tomorrow.

Winter 🥶❄️HP Day 5: Glow Party 🎉 🥳

Friday means chill day so when we are chilling, it’s a moment to just sit back and watch the show unfold… Well today wasn’t that day. We were full on, but lots of fun. How good was it to have some fun indoors. We had to make it fun, we made sure the kids were well prepared, starting off the day with a hiss and a roar, prepared to go coast to coast, go all gas no brakes, pillar to post, we were set and we were off. We started off the morning with thew juniors in the concrete room doing the glow in the dark activities, arts and crafts while our seniors began in the kitchen where they spent the morning baking. Seniors made jelly and brownies with Maya and Zoe, while H took the juniors.

This afternoon we set up for our glow in the dark party and well done to the kids that helped with that, as well as the face painting. It was fun to watch our kids work together as tuakana, Teina and help paint the faces. The juniors were so good so they got to go first while our seniors waited their turn before entering. We had a little boogie, some cool activities and finished off with a game of dodgeball. That takes us into the weekend. Week 1 done.

We are off to the movies next Monday, leaving the center at 9:30 sharp. Hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Winter 🥶❄️HP Day 4: Funky Fun Sports Day

She was a long day. Alot to digest, but at the core of it, mission complete. Kinda gives off Cleveland Cavaliers game 7 vibes in 2016. It’s giving that we did its Aura. Let me explain.

This morning we headed over to Mercury Park to participate in the funky fun sports day. We arrived on time ready to go, we got set up and waited for our whanau from the Papamoa center to join us. Once they arrived and were settled in. It was all go. 4 rotations, 15 minutes at each. Very quick, very fast and very much done by morning tea. We were tired so luckily we had something to eat otherwise tired kids means no more running around. But we had to push on.

Next up we did a few different activities. Highlight of the round was dodgeball. The balls were flying and the mana was high. Kids gave it their best effort and we enjoyed the next 4 rotations before heading into lunchtime.

For our last rotations, basketball was all on. We had to mix it up for one of the kids who is playing rep basketball with kids way older than him so he got to show up the kids. Was quite a treat to watch. But by the end of it, the kids were done. That’s 3 hours of play over 5 hours. Job not finished yet, we move to tomorrow.

Final day for the week, we are doing our glow party. Good way to end the week.
