The cruise-ship season is nearly over, so it was pleasing to get a good-sized group from The Celebrity Edge, yesterday, for our Bay of Plenty Tasting Tour. Great to share the sights of Bay of Plenty NZ with international clients from Wales, the USA, Jamaica & Australia.
Clients on the tour always enjoy the trip up in the gondola to Volcanic Hills Estate Winery cellar door. It’s interesting to see the cyclists load their bikes on at the bottom of the gondola & then see them zipping down the steep terrain under it, as you ascend.
Our other venues, The Rising Tide (beer, gin or cider) & Salinity (cocktail or coffee, & dessert) were appreciated & enjoyed by all.
Rick took a lovely couple on our Kwizine Tour. At the weekend, Bee NZ is not open, so we finish the tour with one of But First Dessert’s exceptional desserts.
One of the perks of the cruise-ship visits is meeting so many friendly people; we’re sad the season is ending imminently.

There’s only one word to describe Punnet’s fare – divine. Our clients loved their Sunday Lunch visit to this Tamahere venue, & who wouldn’t with delicious delights such as Beef-cheek Pappardelle, Smoked Salmon & Edamame toast or Sticky glazed Pork Belly Salad? And desserts to die for – especially the Chocolate Caramel Pudding. We will be back!
Adjacent to the restaurant is The Country Providore & you can continue your foodie reverie amongst the wonderful selection of fresh gourmet foods & chic homewares.
The day’s treats continued at our next venue, Tamahere’s marvellous Inspirit Studio & Gallery that has exceptional original NZ art both inside, in its gallery & outside, in a large sculpture garden.
This was a special day with venues that are well-worth visiting.

On Sunday, Paul had 6 convivial American clients on our Local Tasting Tour which visits the amazing White House Restaurant Te Puna & involves a presentation of at least 4 top NZ wines. The special wines tasted on Sunday were:
Three Brothers Sauvignon Blanc
Kahurangi Pinot Gris
Kahurangi Mount Arthur Reserve Chardonnay
Hawkdun Rise Pinot Noir
C J Pask Merlot
The Landing Syrah
Before the White House lunch & presentation, we had our usual great service & tasting (choices of beer, gin or cider) at The Rising Tide &, after lunch, the 3 couples finished off by enjoying a cocktail or coffee & dessert overlooking the great views at Salinity on the Tauranga Harbour Bridge Marina. We also went up to the Minden Lookout where there are amazing 360 degree views of the Coastal Bay of Plenty.
This is a great local tour – personal presentations, great food & tastings - for a minimum of 4 people.

It’s been a change to take tours with our local clients this week.
Our trip to Bee NZ & Mayward Gardens was really appreciated & we have been asked to redo the trip in Spring.
The BeeNZ (Katikati) tour & tasting were, as usual really interesting & informative & many took the opportunity to buy the venue’s wonderful products.
Mayward Homestead gardens (Whakamarama) are a “must visit”. Even though it’s Autumn, the gardens were spectacular. As said earlier, we plan to return in Spring to enjoy this beautiful venue.
On Thursday, Paul took Property Brokers, Papamoa, to Taupo to another of their inter-branch social cricket matches. This was a day to relax after the company’s National Conference. The team had moderate success & called in briefly to celebrate at Reporoa & Wai-o-Tapu Hotels en route for home.
In the last week, we have enjoyed lunch at dinner with family (Judi Marston) & friends (Trent Walton & Shirley) at Brown - Mt Maunganui. Favored dishes were the chicken & walnut salad, fettuccine & seafood chowder.

Our clients enjoy the variety of venue types & beverages available on our Bay of Plenty Tasting Tour. The Rising Tide starts the tour with a choice of craft beer, gin or cider tastings. We then travel to Volcanic Hills Winery in Rotorua for a wine tasting, before returning to Salinity Restaurant Bar on the Tauranga Marina for a cocktail or coffee & dessert. Tipples for tous!
