This week, we have benn transporting 18 American university students & their 2 teachers on a Culture, Environment,Ecosystems & Service Tour for Innovative Education, Tauranga. The students have been looking at how human culture has affected ecosystems. Trakkie Tunnels & inkpads have been placed in estuaries to ascertain which predators need to be dealt with. Samples of water & small animals have been collected at different areas such as McLarens Falls, the Wairoa River & Kulim Park to see the different stages of a water catchment. Flax & native trees have been potted & planted. A powhiri, korero & kai at Huria Marae were enjoyed this morning. The group move to Rotorua on Sunday & fly to Wellington a few days later before returning home. Paul has thoroughly enjoyed the group's company.
