What makes a good Fiordland guide?
According to our recent guest feedback, it’s much more than knowing the track.
Guests told us they valued guides who explained the local plants, wildlife and history, kept everyone informed, managed the pace of the group and adapted calmly when the weather or someone’s needs changed.
Sometimes it’s helping with gear. Sometimes it’s finding a more comfortable option for tired legs. Often, it’s simply creating a friendly group where solo travellers and couples alike feel welcome.
Many of our guides are mentioned by name, with guests praising their knowledge, humour, enthusiasm and genuine care.
We’re proud of the way our team looks after people. A guide can’t control Fiordland’s weather, but a good one can help you feel prepared, supported and able to enjoy the day, whatever Fiordland sends your way.
