When a huge storm swept through Fiordland on Thursday, the power went out across the region - but our lights stayed on. ⚡️
Even 28 hours into the outage, on a cloudy day, our solar battery was 84% charged, quietly keeping things running and our guests comfortable: lights, fridge, hot showers, cooking facilities, WIFI and even Netflix.
Just one of the quiet luxuries of staying somewhere powered by the sun. ☀️🌿

Our stargazing tours are becoming increasingly popular with guests.

Glen is a qualified ‘Dark Sky Ambassador’ with a passion for astronomy and sharing his knowledge.

He’ll show you 10-12 of the best deep-space objects, including planets, nebulae, stars and galaxies, using optical & digital telescopes, and astro-binoculars.

You may learn about the differences between the northern / southern hemispheres’ night sky, celestial navigation and Māori mythology. Small group sizes mean a truly immersive experience.
