Huge thanks to the Lions Club of Te Awamutu for their donation. With the Information Centre losing funding from our local council, we rely on funding support from local organisations to keep our doors open, and to continue to provide our services and support to our community and visitors 😁

So grateful for this support πŸ₯°

Huge thanks to the Rosetown Lions of Te Awamutu for their donation to the Information Centre, helping to keep our doors open. We are very grateful for the support.

Losing the funding from our local council means we need the support of local organisations to ensure we can continue to provide the same services and support for our community and visitors.

Thanks Rosetown Lions 😁

Last night's dinner meeting was fairly 'quiet' in that we had no guest speaker. The week was proving extra busy, especially for our president Nellie.and secretary Jenny attending District Training over the w/e, our usual monthly Kihikihi Lions dinner on Monday, sorting coins for HU4K Tuesday, and helping TA Lions in their Kai Kart Wed-Fri at Fieldays. That's not to say we were actually quiet - it was a great time to chat.
Near the end of the evening we had representatives from other community groups receive part of our annual donation. It's always rewarding to hear how grateful they are, and how our donation will help them.
They were... Abbie from Waipa King Country Life Education Trust; Harriet from Te Awamutu iSite; Andrew from Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB). Julie coordinator for Daffodil Day, joined us to promote the need for helpers for their street appeal on 29th August.

A national celebration of volunteers across New Zealand/Aotearoa this week! 😁

We couldn’t open our doors without our amazing volunteers, huge thank you to each of you for giving your time and energy to serving and supporting our community and visitors.

It’s never a dull day here, with all the interesting questions and enquiries, you always rise to the challenge and go the extra mile to find the answers and information being sought, connecting our community.

We are a diverse group, coming from all backgrounds and bringing unique skills and passion to the role. We provide volunteer opportunities for anyone seeking to learn new valuable skills while seeking paid employment, great for your CV! Some are new to living in Te Awamutu or even New Zealand, and want to get to know the area and our community. Many want to give their time to helping others, selflessly donating their time and energy.

We are very grateful to each of you for all you bring - a huge thank you!

A submission and meeting with council this week on their Long Term Plan, we are ever hopeful for a positive outcome, with some funding support to help keep our doors open. We have minimised our outgoings and operational costs, having our wonderful volunteers is a huge part of this, without compromising on our services, we have increased our sustainable self driven income, our request is for just half of our budget to be funded by council. In the huge council millions of dollars budget we are asking for just $60k to keep us open, providing support and services to our community and visitors. Fingers crossed council can see our efforts and wonderful volunteer support, the amazing work that we do, and support our not-for-profit with this funding so we can continue to provide volunteering opportunities to our community.
