Kiwiburn Pirate Ship

Kiwiburn Pirate Ship The Pirate ship is a Kiwiburn Tradition since 2008 We also had a great Pirate Beach party with kids of all sizes having fun.

The origional vessel was built by Rich D Rich for the 2008 Kiwiburn festival and it was a great success, it was moored to the beach as a great floating attraction. Captain Lumos took over the care and operation in 2009 and added a small 2hp outboard motor, in 2010 he repaired damage done by the cows and added some more improvements and the Pirate ship had a great time transporting festival goers o

ut onto the lake. Later that year the main deck was stolen and Captain Lumos applied for and received a Kiwiburn Arts grant to Build the new and improved Pirate Ship that was launched in January 2011. As well as having less drag in the water this vessel was loaned a bigger 10hp outboard and our trips could now go up the river exploring and having a great time. At Kiwiburn 2012 (January 18-23) the pirate ship will return again with more enhancements and perhaps a new look on life.

WANTED: New Pirate ship captain & crew.....
As Captain Lumos, I took over the pirate ship in 2009 and I really enjoyed sailing her around lake Kiwiburn at the old site, now we are land based I have lost some of my Pirate passion and feel that perhaps the time has come to pass the ship on to a crew who can update her and get her spreading panic and passion across the paddocks.....
She is currently in storage on the site and I am happy to help the new captain transition into their role.... and remember some ladies also made great Pirate Captains

well some things went well and others not so well..... our pirate tow vehicle spent 2 weeks being a towing work horse around the KB site collecting timber and moving pallets etc.... then when the festival started it decided it wanted to start playing up.... and the next day it finally suffered a terminal electrical problem.... so we removed the water cannon and placed it on the pirate ship and hitched it up behind the campa van and off we went, having fun and spreading joy and water spray around the festival....

Travelling by Pirate Ship has become an institution at Kiwiburn for 6 years, the river at our new site is not suitable for a boat so I wish to transform it into a land based art project, towed behind a mutated art car we can borrow, it will both provide transport for participants and provide terror…

the arts grants committe has been good enough to give us some money to upgrade the pirate ship so we will be installing a clean green solar powered sound system and some new lighting

is looking for somebody who can loan us an outbaord motor for the pirate ship.... in the 10hp to 25hp range.... either short or long shaft can be catered for.... who ever can arrange this will win a big hug from all the Pirate team
