Milford Track Bookings Open Tomorrow – Be Ready

Please share this reminder with friends or family who might be planning to walk the Milford Track.
Many people don’t realise how the NEW booking system works — if they’re not in the waiting lobby before 9:29am, they’ll be placed at the back of the queue and could miss out entirely.

A quick share could be the difference between securing a spot or missing out for the season.

To be part of the random draw for hut booking system access, you must be logged into the DOC website and have clicked “Book Now” before 9:29am. After that time, it’s too late — the draw begins, and latecomers go straight to the back.

Our tip: Log in and click “Book Now” by 9:15am to be ready and in the lobby on time.

Milford Track hut bookings for the 2025/26 season open at 9:30am on Wednesday, 28 May.
At that moment, the DOC site activates a random queue — you’ll be assigned a place in line and shown your estimated wait time.

Are you ready to book the Kepler Track? Bookings open this Thursday, 15th May at 9:30am!

If you're dreaming of walking the Kepler Track this summer, now’s the time to get ready—before hut bookings open this Thursday!

Here’s how to give yourself the best shot:

1. Create or log into your DOC account early
Double-check your login today, do it right now so there are no surprises on Thursday morning.

2. On Thursday, log in and jump into the Great Walks booking system ready to book between 9:00–9:15am - we've been told, users will be placed into a waiting lobby.

3. At 9:30am, users will be randomly placed in a virtual queue from the waiting lobby. Being early doesn’t move you up the line—but you need to be in the lobby before 9:29am to be included in the initial random draw. Don't refresh the page!

4. Have your hike details sorted.
Lock in your preferred dates and be ready to click quickly once you’re in. If you can be flexible with dates? Even better.

5. Transport? We’ve got you covered.
Tracknet provides daily Kepler transport options from Te Anau or Queenstown to Control Gates and/or Rainbow Reach to make your trip smooth and stress-free.
