Opononi Seashore, Hoki Toki Tours A fantastic location for a far north holiday in the Hokianga, 4 hours north of Auckland. Located on the Opononi sea shore. Book direct with owner or Airbnb

Hop, skip or jump across the road to fish, kayak, swim or explore the shoreline from this sea shore, comfortable and unique home away from home. Alternatively stretch out on the couch with a good wine and indulge in the breathtaking seascape and

dramatic shifting colours on the golden sand mountains across the harbour. You may spot Orca whales, or dolphins. Use the telescope to spot the famous Maori Pou (totem) which guards the harbour! If you tire of watching sea and sands, walk along to the waterfront Opononi Hotel and wharf. Have a bar meal and a beer and meet the local characters. For those who prefer to cook at home, organic herbs, seasonal fruit and vegetables are in the garden. The house is spacious and although furnished for adults, children are welcome. Just ask! MUST DO's:
# Cross the harbour by water taxi for an exhilirating dune buggy ride, exploring magnificent canyons and sand sculptures or go sliding down the dunes.

# The newest Must Do is a visit to the Manea Centre for a memorable high tech experience of ancient times and the arrival of Kupe.

# Visit the ancient kauri tree giants by day or the glow worms by night.

# Drive out to the harbour heads to see the pounding surf or enjoy the tidal rock pools

# Follow the Hokianga artisan trail

# Soak in the healing natural waters of Ngawha Springs less than 1 hr away.

A great place to visit no more than 40 minutes drive from Opononi.

This wonderland Wairere Boulders is well worth the trip for. The Boulders are open every day during daylight hours, last entry is 2 hours before sunset. There is also a B&B, camping and a cafe in the weekends and holidays! Walks, swimming, kayaking...a truly unique experience! Thank you Lee Slater for the photo!
