You can now stay in the global award winning First Light House on a fabulous site overlooking the sweep of Waimarama Beach in Hawke’s Bay. This much awarded eco home, designed and built by University of Victoria architectural students, went on display in Wellington, then it was shipped to Washington to compete in an international competition where it won first place in engineering, second for a

rchitecture and third place overall . Now this sassy solar home of the future has been permanently sited on Lightning Ridge overlooking the white sands of Waimarama Beach , a twenty minute scenic drive from Havelock North in Hawke’s Bay. It’s quite simply a beautiful home to stay in, while being sustainable with loads of smart technology built into the much admired house. The house has amazing indoor – outdoor flow with more than 100 metres of decks overlooking the beautiful surf beach . With sweeping views down to Cape Kidnappers and out to sea to Bare Island, the location is special, perfect for such a special house. The house sleeps six, but ideally we would recommend that young families of 4 or 2 couples will be best suited to the size and sleeping arrangements. But please watch this space as planned additions over the NZ winter will allow for additional bedrooms and living spaces.
