This made us laugh here at Down to Earth 😂 We have plenty of funny moments with Kiwi vocabulary and accent confusion, so we can definitely relate to a few of these!

Let’s just say we’ve now replaced the word “deck” with “porch” after one too many confused faces 🤣

Believe it or not, one of the questions we get asked most often by visitors is:

“What is New Zealand food?” and “What should we try while we’re here?” 🇳🇿

So in our latest blog we put together a list of some of our favourite Kiwi foods — and by Kiwi, we mean the people, not the bird or the fruit! 😄

From meat pies and fish & chips to hāngī, pavlova and hokey pokey ice cream, here are a few things we think every visitor should try.

Have we forgotten anything? What would you add to the list? 👇

What is New Zealand food? Discover must-try Kiwi favourites including meat pies, hāngī, pavlova, lamb and hokey pokey ice cream.

Who would you bring with you?

🌱 Growing above, glowing below!

Another 6,500 native plants are now in the ground on our family property, bringing the total planted here over the past eight years to more than 15,000.

It is a pretty special milestone for us and another big step towards restoring more native forest around the cave, streams and surrounding landscape.

Every plant will help create more food, shelter and habitat for native birds, bats, lizards, insects and all the other wildlife that calls this place home.

This timelapse captures five hours of planting in just 20 seconds — only a tiny glimpse of the planning, teamwork, muddy boots and hard work that went into the full job!

A huge thank you to Regen Waikato, Waikato Regional Council and Restore Native Plant Nursery for helping make it possible.

Now we get to watch this little forest grow. 🌿
