The Waxroom is a world class ski & snowboard tuning and repair workshop. Located in the Spencer House Mall Wanaka, New Zealand which caters to the general public and professional athletes. Owner/Operator Chris Rodgers is the official wax technical for the New Zealand Park and Pipe Team which allows his to travel the world to major events supporting the team. With the skills he has learnt over the

years in tuning the top professional athletes of the world he has decided to open his own tune shop in Wanaka to make available his services to the general public at competitive prices.

Today was bittersweet. Today is the day I sold my two machines that I started The Waxroom with back in 2014. We spent a lot of hours together over the years and they have been good to me but it’s time to part ways.
The good side of this is, it’s a bit of a full circle for me. For those of you who don’t know Tim Hudson, he owned and operated Thunder Boards back in the day. He had two workshops. One up at the base at Treble Cone and the other in Town (Wanaka), which ran up until 2009. Thunder boards was the shop locals would always go to. Tim was the ‘guy’.
Tim introduced me to tuning back in the early 2000’s and started me on my course of becoming a ski / snowboard technician. When I started The Waxroom back in 2014 Tim came into the shop to check it out and saw my machines that I’d bought. Offhandedly he said ‘let me know if you ever sell them’. I kind of laughed it off not thinking much of it at the time as he is a bit of a jokester. Tim used to run the same machines (very similar) in his shop. Here I am almost 10 years later upgrading my machines thinking who can I sell my old machines to? And then I remembered… I’ll ask Tim if he was interested. Surely not… Well he was. After running by Beth, his wife, he got the go ahead (she’s pretty cool). So now they are going live in Tim’s garage where he can look after his friends and family’s skis. Or maybe just to have bragging rights over his mates! How many people do you know have a ski tuning machine in their garage? It’s pretty rad.
So long story short. I’m stoked they are going to a good home and are not going to be neglected in the back of some ski shop. I know he’ll look after them and probably get another 20 years out of them.
