You can train your legs for months.

Build your aerobic fitness.
Carry a weighted pack.
Spend hours on vertical gain.

But at high altitude, one of the first systems to destabilise isn’t your strength or endurance.

It’s your breathing.

Adventure Consultants has partnered with Recal Training founder Anthony Lorubbio for a free live workshop:

The Missing Piece in Your High Altitude Preparation

Designed specifically for climbers preparing for:
● Aconcagua this year
● Everest
● Denali
● Vinson
● Kilimanjaro
● The Seven Summits
● Himalayan trekking peaks and high-altitude expeditions

In this workshop, Anthony will explore:
● Why fit climbers still struggle at altitude
● The “hypoxic spiral” many climbers experience
● And the overlooked system that may play a major role in how you adapt and perform at elevation

If you’re investing heavily into an expedition, this workshop may help you better prepare for what altitude actually demands.

twokiwibirds and guide Rhys had a great couple of days out in the Alps over the weekend, fine-tuning their mountaineering skills in classic alpine conditions.

A solid day of movement, learning, and time spent in the mountains. How good!

More Summits!!!
10am Nepal time

Congratulations! The rest of our team have topped out on the Summit of Everest!

Not a cloud in the sky and the sun keeping them warm, maybe too warm at times.

A massive day! We are all so proud!

Shika Raju - 1st Summit!!
Rob Smith - 10th Summit!!
Pasang Bhote - 16th Summit!!
Sanduk Tamang - 17th Summit!!
Tashi Thundu Sherpa - 13th Summit!!
Karma Geljen Sherpa - 1st Summit!!

The top is only half way, but luckily the team will have gravity working with them on the way down.

Stella, Ang Dorjee, Pasang Rinji, Chhewang and Ngima will soon be in C4. Will keep you all posted as people arrive back to the south col as best we can. Since arriving in EBC April 18th, it has been a wild season requiring immense patience. We are so lucky to have picked a great weather day and have so many people stand on top of the world!

Special shout out to Pemba Tharke who has been at the south col to melt water and help keep everyone fed, who will also welcome them all back into C4.

To all the AC Team who made these summits possible, on the mountain, in basecamp, back in Nz and around the world! And of course to Stella and Shika's friends and families who have supported them for the years leading up to this day.

Congratulations Everyone!!!

SUMMIT SUMMIT!
6.25am Nepal Local Time

From the South Summit to the true summit, although not far, comes with its own challenges. A narrow cornice traverse and of course the infamous Hillary Step needs to be navigated. In light breezes and clear blue, sunny skies, the first of the Adventure Consultants team reached the Top of the World

This morning at 6:25am local time,

Stella Hawkins - 1st Summit!!
Ang Dorjee Sherpa - 25th Summit!!
Chhewang Dorji Sherpa - 17th Summit!!
Ngima Chhiring Sherpa - 16th Summit!!
Pasang Rinji Sherpa - 4th Summit!!

Whether for the first time or the 25th time, congratulations to you all! An amazing effort this morning and a view that is undoubtedly as good as it gets!

We still have half our team on their way, not far behind.

SOUTH SUMMIT
5.10am Nepal time

The first of our team has reached the South summit. This is a small notch on the skyline when seen from Base Camp, but a prominent mound for our climbers.

Reaching the South Summit, we are now only 100m below the true summit of Mt Everest. The sun is on the horizon and will soon be warming everyone up. Everest, being as big as she is casts an immense shadow on the land below.

The juniper keeps burning and soon we should hear of our first summits!!

The Balcony
3.15am Nepal Time

The team has started arriving at the Balcony. When they left Camp 4 on the South Col, they first had to pass over the Blue Ice Bulge - glacier ice that rarely holds onto fresh snow, as Camp 4 itself wasn't covered in snow, I doubt this feature was. Then a steep, snow covered slope known as the Triangle Face is followed until reaching 8400m, The Balcony and halfway from C4 to the summit.

It is here where we have had our first radio contact with the team. They will have a short break, refuel, change oxygen and then soon turn onto the South East Ridge. The terrain from here is sometimes described as "moderately undulating" but at this altitude nothing is moderate.

Brew a cup of tea, or something stronger, and wish Shika, Stella and the team strength and good luck as they climb higher than ever.

EVEREST SUMMIT BID UNDERWAY
10pm local time, Nepal

Tonight, just as every night that anyone leaves Base Camp, Da Jangbu (our base camp Sirdar) wakes to light Juniper and pray at our Lapsur. We stand together in silence as smoke drifts around us and hope Chhomolungma gives the team safe passage tonight. I notice headtorches still moving through the Khumbu Icefall and think of everyone leaving for their final push.

Rob wrote of breaking the summit push into small, medium and large. Well the Large day has officially started!

The team have made their departure from Camp 4 - 10pm for Shika, Pasang Bhote, Tashi Thundu and Karma; 10:30 for Stella, Rob, Chhewang, Sanduk and Ngima; Ang Dorjee and Pasang Rinji somewhere in the mix.

We will first hear from them on the radio when they reach a milestone known as the Balcony.
