‼️ EK FLIGHT UPDATE ‼️
All scheduled Emirates flights to/from Dubai remain suspended until 2359 UAE time on 07 Mar, due to the airspace closures across the region.
EK says it continues to operate a limited flight schedule and is accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority on these limited flights.
Customers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating.
Travellers are asked to not go to the airport unless they have been notified directly by EK or hold a confirmed booking for these flights.
EK continues to monitor the situation, and says it will develop its operational schedule accordingly.
The latest flight updates will be published on its website, passengers are urged to check the EK website before travelling to the airport.
The carrier reiterates that the safety and security of its passengers and crew remain its highest priority.

Middle East: Travel Impacts
United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities have partially reopened their airspace.
Dubai International Airport (DXB), Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International, and Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) have limited flights operating.
We understand over 50 flights have departed DXB airport today (Tuesday 3 March). These have been to short and medium haul international destinations only.
There has been no official announcement on flights to Australia or New Zealand at this time. The New Zealand Government is in contact with airline representatives in the UAE and Qatar to seek urgent confirmation of the planned resumption and status of flights to New Zealand.
All airlines and airports are stressing that passengers should NOT proceed to the airport unless their airline has confirmed their specific flight is operating.

Dear Travelers,

We understand that many of you may be feeling concerned about the current situation in the Middle East, particularly if you are booked to travel with Emirates or Qatar Airways. These are understandably unprecedented and uncertain times, and we want to reassure you that we are here to fully support you throughout this period.

At present, both Emirates and Qatar Airways have suspended flight operations, and both airlines have flexible policies in place to support affected travellers up until the 10th of March with Qatar and the 10th of March 2026 with Emirates. We are closely monitoring all airline updates and are actively working through affected bookings to ensure our clients receive the best possible outcomes, including rebooking, alternative routing, or refunds in line with airline policies.

If your travel plans fall outside the current affected airline policies, it is unfortunately a bit of a waiting game at this stage. Should you wish to proactively change your routing, this would be at your own expense unless the airlines change or extend their current policies in the coming weeks. We will of course continue to monitor this closely and advise you of any updates.

We also want to remind clients that acts of war or conflict are general exclusions with most travel insurance providers and therefore may not provide cover for disruptions or cancellations directly or indirectly related to the current situation. If you are unsure about your individual policy, we recommend reviewing your policy wording or contacting us or your insurance provider directly.

United Kingdom Entry Requirement Changes

Dear Clients,

We are writing to share an important update regarding new UK entry requirements that will affect many New Zealand passport holders, particularly those with British or Irish citizenship ties.

From 25 February 2026, anyone who is classed as a British or Irish citizen will be required to travel to the UK using a UK or Irish passport. This applies even if you currently hold and usually travel on a New Zealand passport.

Who Does This Effect
_____________________________________________________________

This change is especially relevant for:

• New Zealand passport holders who are
automatically British or Irish citizens by birth or descent

• Children whose parent(s) were born in the UK or Ireland

• Dual British/Irish–New Zealand citizens who never applied for a UK passport

If you are considered a British or Irish citizen, you cannot apply for,
or use, a UK ETA - The ETA system is only for visitors who do not already
have a right of entry to the UK.

Very Important

Many people are only now discovering that they are automatically British citizens due to one, or both, parents being born in the UK or Ireland. While this has historically been seen as a benefit, it now means that children must have a UK passport before they can board a flight to the UK. Travelling on a New Zealand passport alone will no longer be permitted in these cases.

This will affect many of our travellers – If your mother or father was born in the United Kingdom or Ireland – You MUST apply for a British passport, and travel on your UK passport (or Irish passport if you hold one), to be allowed to board an aircraft to the UK.

There are NO EXCEPTIONS –
Airlines will refuse boarding if correct documents are not provided.

Passport Processing Times

The British High Commission advises applying as early as possible. Processing times for UK passports from New Zealand can vary, and there is no guaranteed expedited service for overseas applications. While some applicants have received passports within a few weeks, others have experienced
delays up to 8 weeks, particularly with international courier services.

If you are unsure about your own or your children’s citizenship status, it is strongly recommended that you seek advice as soon as possible—especially if you have upcoming travel plans.
