What is Bamboo?

Why can't adventure travel be EPIC and give-back at the same time?” - Mark Foster-Murray & Colin Salisbury, Co-Founders Bamboo was built on a cornerstone of combined experience of almost 40 years in international adventure travel and global giving back initiatives. The co-founders; Colin and Mark & Steve each shared the same vision and agree it is essential that travel must be giving–back to the communities that it visits. This, combined with having the most fun possible, is the priority of all Bamboo's experience tours. Each tour is designed around the positive impact that creates, the legacy that it leaves behind and the way that travelers and communities work together. This is as much about a cultural experience as it is a holiday.

Grown from humble beginnings as a small independent travel operation in Thailand to one of the world's most celebrated travel brands. The founders first met many years ago connected by the idea that adventure travel can be a positive experience for both the community and traveller. In 2019 we are now a global operation offering 33 tours across 9 countries and growing annually with the same original values that we first founded the company on way back in 2001.

Now, co-founders Colin and Mark are fully committed to giving you the best opportunity to have a life-changing experience while safe in the knowledge that our tours are verified, guided and of the highest quality.

Since 2001 Bamboo has placed 37,329 travelers on projects around the world and opened the eyes of international travelers to new cultures and customs globally. They've raised almost $3.5 million in project donations and have generated tens of thousands of community project hours for needy and worthwhile projects.
