Cost efficiency: Our construction yard is a level and set up for transportable homes to be built, we have permanent piles and bearers set up for large and small homes , If your site is located in a remote coastal or rural area you may also find that labour is scarce and travel costs for builders to go to your site are prohibitive. A transportable home, built off site can be a more affordable choice. Fast build times: Minimal delays and maximum efficiency , our sub contractors are all local and no the way of our builds , they are also very reliable and will show on the dates provided.

New NZ 70m² Granny Flat Legislation Aflex Homes ltd

New legislation now allows secondary dwellings up to 70m² to be built without a building consent, provided all requirements are met. This can reduce timeframes and allow projects to start sooner.

However, there are current limitations. We have not yet found insurance companies or banks willing to insure or lend against dwellings built without a Code of Compliance, and valuers are not adding them to property valuations, meaning they currently offer limited asset value, similar to a caravan on-site.

The positive news is that discussions with our local council want to help establish a clearer, more streamlined pathway to make these dwellings fully compliant, insurable, and able to be valued, ensuring they become a genuine long-term asset on your property.

Aflex Homes will continue to provide professional guidance as this legislation evolves.
