After our tour of the racecourse we headed to TeleMed Vet for a tour of their facilities and to learn more about what they do.

In partnership with Vets, world renowned researchers and industry leaders TeleMedVET are undertaking a series of ambitious animal welfare projects. Using full and half body nuclear scintigraphy scans to the equine community.

We learnt all about their advanced imaging clinical services and how they are now looking to convert years of scientific data to easy to use and cost effective tools which will solve real world problems.

The kids learnt how the inject radiation into the horses and then take radiographs of either parts of or the whole of the horses body to be able to find fractures or abnormalities that X-rays can’t pick up. This being able to prevent small injuries becoming large ones and helping to prevent horses either breaking bones or having to retire early from injuries that have not been detected.

The science behind what they do have the girls yet another in-site into yet another of the careers available in the equine industry.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

After we finished there we headed to the beautiful Bells Rapids for a walk along the tracks that surround the rapids.

While we did not see then in full flow you could see how high they get in winter after heavy rain and they had great fun climbing all over the rocks 😊

Day 8 of the tour and it was a very early start to the day getting the kids up at 5 am πŸ˜‚

First we headed off to the Ascot Racecourse to watch the early morning track training and have a tour of the grounds.

We got to watch lots of horses train and in the tie ups before and after they had trained. We got to speak to some of the trainers and jockeys.

We got to go through all the rooms that the jockeys use on race days and see their equipment.

We got to go to the apprentice jockeys training rooms and ride on all the horse simulator. This was much harder than it looked πŸ˜‚

We watched the horses swimming and got to visit one of the trainer yards opposite the track.

It might have been an early start but it was worth it 😊

The kids all having Showjumping lessons at Zia Park with Debbie Greenwood.

Debbie is a top show jumper herself and is a very creditable coach. Who’s coaching philosophy was very clear and emphasised the basics.

The girls got to have lessons on horses owed but Gail Simms the owner of Zia Park.

They all came away having learnt a lot and loved the experience.

The lessons were followed by a talk with Veterinary Physio Maddy Georgiades who is WAs top horse veterinary physio.

Day 6 😊 and 1st up the kids got to visit the Perth Mounted Police.

It was so interesting to watch them train and get the horses ready to go out in action.

The kids got to interact and be part of the training as well as see all the equipment that gets used.

Even though it’s so different from the dressage, show jumping or eventing the kids are used to all the basics still apply and we’re being used.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We then got to go to the Murdoch University and had a tour around the veterinary department.

We got to see the latest technology including the CT and MRI machines as well as all the operating theatres for both large and small animals.

It was a great incite into what the university has to offer our students .

Unfortunately we were not able to take many photos but the kids and parents learnt so much.

The anatomy museum was definitely a highlight πŸ₯°

Day 5 of our Tour -

First we headed back to Yalambi Stud for our tour of the stud with Rory Hovell.

Yalambi Farm Stud was founded by the Hovell family in 1999 with the vision to breed and train exceptional showjumping horses.

I have been to many studs and yards in my life all over the world but this one is truly special and Rory is one of the nicest, most humble and knowledgeable person I have come across in a long time.

His knowledge about breeding is unreal, he took so much time to talk and teach the kids so much.
It’s so far definitely the highlight of this tour.

We met his stunning broodmares, foals, yearlings, 2 year olds to 6 year olds, colts, stallions, mares and geldings, we could walk into all their paddocks and give them pats and scratches. Every horse on the property had the most incredible temperament.

Rory and his family have breed some world class horses and it was like being in a stud in Europe.

The whole property has been so cleverly designed and built with so much thought and detail.

Day 4 of our Perth tour -

1st stop of the day was at the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. I don’t think I have ever seen so much chocolate under one roof πŸ˜‚

The Gin and Tonic truffles were definitely my favourite πŸ₯°

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Next stop was at the Amelia Park Racing and Breeding stables -

These stables are home to over 120 Tbs from foals to in work race horses and the stables have breed some of WAs best racehorses. Nestled on over 200 acres in Vasse, part of the renowned South West region, Amelia Park boasts outstanding facilities catering to all stages of horse racing.

The kids got a guided tour of the stables and got to see the stables, breeding areas, race track, horse walker, feed room and so much more.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Next stop was the Mammouth Cave-

Nestled within the stunning karri and marri forest of Margaret River, Mammoth Cave is a site of incredible natural and historical significance. Once home to Australia's megafauna, giant animals that roamed the Earth before their extinction 46,000 years ago, the cave offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. We did and self guided tour including over 160 stairs πŸ˜‚

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Last stop for today was at the truly stunning Aravina estate winery for lunch. The Aravina Estate spans 180 acres (73 hectares), with 69 acres (29.6 hectares) dedicated to vineyards and was a truly beautiful place for a lovely lunch 😊

I think they will all sleep well tonight 😴
