We've just visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and 57th NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky! Just under 9000 vehicles - mind blowing!

Now we are in Nashville for 3 nights.... watch this space.

DAY 28 - The Final Day
After an excellent breakfast at our Hotel in Santa Monica we made the short walk to the Santa Monica Pier and the End Of The Trail sign. It was a beautiful morning and we were lucky that it wasn't too crowded.

We met Frank at the 66 To Cali kiosk on the pier who told us the background of the End Of The Trail sign and the end point of Route 66 - he did a great job!

After photos of the group we explored the Pier and said farewells to those who had flights to catch.

Although we visited the Peterson Auto Museum 5 weeks ago with Tour #38, they have made many changes to the cars & displays which a real surprise. The museum is one of the best automobile museums in the world with amazing cars & displays.

For a taste of Kiwi we stopped by the Ponsonby Road Cafe in West Hollywood for meat pies and custard squares.

After returning the Jeeps to Hertz at LAX Marriott we said our farewells and wish everyone a safe journey on their next adventure.

And so our 39th tour came to an end this evening. THANK YOU to the Tour Group who were a great bunch and fantastic to be with. We'd take any one of them on tour again....

DAY 27 - San Bernadino to Santa Monica, California

Our final drive along one of the most FAMOUS roads in the world was only about 75 miles, but can take 4 hours as we follow the foothills of Los Angeles.

The tour is based around the LA Roadster Show and this year was extra special being the 60th Anniversary. Held at the Pomona Fairplex there were plenty of roadsters along with other beautiful cars, well known vendors and a swapmeet.

We followed Route 66 through Rancho Cucamonga, Glendora and Pasadena before driving part of Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard with a detour along Rodeo Drive as well.

Our Hotel in Santa Monica is across the road from the beach and Pacific Ocean which was great to see again. Our final dinner together was at Bubba Gumps shrimp restaurant right on Santa Monica Pier.

We had fun night sharing our experiences of the tour with each other, followed by random draws for the treasures we collected along the way.

DAY 26 - Kingman to San Bernadino, California

We left Kingman with beautiful weather and took Route 66 the Oatman Highway with our first stop at Cool Springs for some more shopping. We then drove over the "Side Winder" to the top of the Sitgreaves Pass where we could see California & Nevada from our view point in Arizona.

Oatman is Donkey town as they roam the streets and interact with the tourists. They also stand in the middle of the road on either side of town and block the road!

We love driving the quiet Route 66 roads through the rest of Arizona and California after we crossed over the Colorado River.

Our Hotel for the night is the Wigwam Motel which opened in 1949 and one of the most iconic along the 2000+ mile route.
