Whangamatā Memorial Hall is in for a night of chaos on Saturday 3 October. The Tempestuous is coming to town — a shrewd new comedy mashing up Shakespeare with the sharp wit of Penny Ashton, and it's been getting rave reviews around the country (Broadway World called it "literary comedy gold," Radio NZ said "incredibly clever").

One woman, one show, all of Shakespeare's leading ladies given their moment to finally speak their minds.

Incase you missed it - on today!

Today is the last event Thames-Coromandel District Council will be holding to get your feedback on what’s most important to you for the future of the Peninsula, and what better place to hold it than in Whangamatā.

The team will be at the Whangamatā Town Hall from 4pm - 5.50pm this evening to hear your vision for the next 30+ years, your thoughts on what Peninsula has today that needs to be kept, changed or removed, and the biggest challenges and opportunities you see ahead.

Your insights will help shape a 30+ year big‑picture plan we are creating, which will guide growth and development, identify which essential services are needed and where, which areas of cultural and ecological significance should be protected, and provide long-term certainty by setting a clear, shared vision for the community.

TODAY, Friday 10th July:
🔥 Hāngī viewing & activities – Williamson Park, all morning (fire lit 5:30am, hāngī laid ~10am)
🏊 Cold water dip with the Whanga Dippers – Whangamatā Surf Club, 1pm, dress up for fun!
🍽️ Hāngī & concert – Williamson Park, 1:30pm (BYO chair/picnic rug/blanket/kite)

Hāngī tickets are still available from Discover Whangamatā or at Williamson Park – get in before they sell out!

🪨 Workshops (whakairo, raranga, clay, tā moko demo & more) – Memorial Hall, Sat 9am–3pm, koha entry
