Day 35 - Miami, Florida

As our 2026 Cars & Blues tour comes to an end we wind things down in preparation for our departures tomorrow - chilling at the beach or pool, dining out, last minute shopping.

We had drinks at the Hotel Bar then went to out for our final dinner of the tour and shared lifelong memories!

Day 33 - Clearwater Beach to Miami, Florida

We completed the tour loop today back to where we started from 34 days ago - Miami.

But on the way we stopped in the beautiful city of Naples on the Gulf Coast - this area has a lot of $$$$.

Our next stop was for an Airboat ride through the Everglades - a lot of fun and we spotted a 10ft+ Alligator and got too close to it!

We all arrived safely at the Pestana Hotel where we started the tour and will prepare for our departures on Saturday. Our final dinner together will be tomorrow night!

Day 32 - Panama City Beach to Clearwater Beach, Florida

Our last big drive of the tour at just over 300 miles however we had some cool visits along the way. The Tallahassee Auto Museum has MUCH more than Autos - just about anything you can imagine collecting they have! One Man's obsession with collecting - it is mind blowing.

Next up was Don Garlit's Drag Racing Museum. "Big Daddy" Garlits is without a doubt the most famous Drag Racer in history and he's now 94 years old. The museum is home to famous dragsters, engines and Hot Rods - many of which are Don & Pat's personal cars going back to the 1950s. It's mind blowing.

Our beautiful Hotel in Clearwater Beach is across the road from the beach - just WOW!

Day 30 - New Orleans to Panama City Beach, Florida

We passed from Louisiana back into Mississippi, Alabama then returning to the state we started in 4 weeks ago - Florida.

Instead of taking the Interstate we prefer to take the scenic route along the Gulf coastline. It is beautiful through Gulf Port and Biloxi and Gulf Shore - Pensacola. Pure white sand and clear green water. It's known as the Emerald Coast for a reason.

Flora-Bama is a Bar right on the state line of Florida & Alabama so is a popular tourist stop.

Our resort Hotel for the next 2 nights is right on the beach and we all have a balcony view of the ocean and hotel pools. There is nightly entertainment including a Dive In Movie at the pool and Polynesian dancing.

Day 29 - New Orleans, Louisiana

Our morning started with a visit to the Guiding Light Baptist Church for a very moving Gospel service - beautiful singing and powerful words from Paster Washington.

We then drove over the longest bridge built over fresh water - it's 23.8 miles long! Then we had turn around and drive back.

Then we spent the day exploring the French Quarter in the Big Easy

Day 28 - Natchez to New Orleans, Louisiana

Another day with clear blue skies over the famous Mississippi River as we made our way south to New Orleans.

Along the way we visited 2 very different Plantation Houses. The first was the smaller of the 2 - the Myrtles where Indigo was grown for dying fabric. The Myrtles has a paranormal history with both National Geographic and another Ghost Busters type TV show have featured it.

Oak Alley Plantation grew sugar cane and a much bigger building.

New Orleans is the Queen of the South and the French Quarter is the main tourist area. Lots of noise and colour around here!

Day 27 - Vicksburg to Natchez, Mississippi

A very easy day with time to check out historic Vicksburg. We need to wind our mind back to the 1800s when the Mississippi River was the Interstate of the USA at the time. All the trade between the South & the North was along the river and towns like Vicksburg were bustling with trade. Along with the French influence along the river.

So during the Civil War the river was an important tool - control of the river was fought over and one of the biggest battles of the civil war was in Vicksburg. Over 17,000 troops were killed over the 47 day battle. American history....

We then took the Natchez Trace Parkway to Natchez - it's a very quiet road with no trucks permitted.

Natchez is another river front town and like Vicksburg was a busy trading hub. A visit to the Under the Hill area includes the oldest Bar on the Mississippi where Mark Twain used to hang out!
