Regular cruises aboard the iconic Paddle Steamer Waimarie - NZ’s only coal-fired paddle steamer operating from the golden riverboat era. The vessel is available September - May and for private charter cruises by arrangement. About yesterday 😍

Huge, huge thank you to the guys from Johnson Brothers Ltd for the assistance in getting us down to the port and in the lifting bay so smoothly, with our friends, Coastguard Whanganui, in support.

We undertook a rare, if not a world first, by lifting our side paddle wheeler from the awa, & the team at Q-West Boat Builders Whanganui took care of the lift with absolute ease, and we are uber thankful for them and their support throughout this process!

Phase one on our road to dry land complete ✅️

Big thanks to the team Garmac Engineering for doing the mad mahi to get the lifting bars for our cradle built in short time frame and our freinds Emmetts Civil Construction for taking care of alllllll the heavy lifting. 💪💪💪

And as always, our team on the ground for digging in and getting the old girl trimmed down and ready to slid down to the port.

THE Toast moved. THE party didn’t. 🪩

Tomorrow night, Saturday 8 August, we’re still taking over Porridge Watson for the PS Waimarie after-party.

From 8pm, catch The Rustlers and Kokoa Nashi live, grab a drink, find the dance floor and help us turn what was going to be the end of our fundraiser into a pretty decent Saturday night instead.

$5 entry. Everyone welcome. You don’t need a Toast ticket, a black-tie outfit or any excuse whatsoever.

The guest of honour has changed the running order.

PS Waimarie isn’t out of the water yet and, when a 126-year-old paddle steamer needs your full attention, you clear the diary.

So, A Toast to PS Waimarie is moving to Saturday 12 September.

Same beautiful venue. Same caterers. Same bubbles, auction treasures and black-tie plans. Just a few extra weeks to perfect your outfit and help us give this grand old girl the night she deserves.

Already free on 8 August? The after-party is still going ahead, so your party shoes needn’t go completely unused.
