Your captain Rex Smith and his wife Lynette are well equipped to take you and your company out for a great day on the Hauraki Gulf or if you really want to chase the big dream Marlin fishing is an option in late summer. With many years of experience behind them they can take on almost any challenge and be confident in good results.

The most important aspect of the trips is to have fun not only catching fish but taken in the scenery. New Zealand's summers turn the Hauraki Gulf into a play ground envied around the world by many anglers. With schools of fish feeding whales, dolphins and sharks. Not to mention the vast range of bottom fish species on the menu.

Hi Team,
We are finally heading towards happier times. It's time to put our frustrations and depressions behind us, Summer is sneaking up fast and as soon as we can we will be back on the water. Over the last few months Kiwi Angler has been worked on in preparation for the new season. with some new features and paint work plus a new gearbox and new engine,we will be ready for a great season,
( Trying to be Positive).
I have posted some pics of the past to wet you appetite. If you have not booked in for your summer trips, I would suggest that start making plans now
We are looking forward to having some some great times again !!

On our recent trip north to Tutukaka we were challenged with strong winds and big seas, but fortunately we did manage some solid fishing in between the high winds.
My son Zac tagged a good mako shark around 300kg which challenged a few muscles.He also had fun with a good Mahimahi before losing it a the boat in big seas.The Marlin were elusive this trip with only one confirmed strike. Jackie Martel played a nice 180kg Mako for 11/2 hours off Cape Brett.Jackie's husband Mark landed a solid 30kg Yellowfin Tuna .
Over nighting at the Poor Knights is always great. Snorkeling with Kingfish,Snapper and even Turtles etc.
Sadly we had a gearbox problem on our last day. Which meant a tow into Tutukaka at night and then two more tows back to Gulf harbour the following day.
We are pleased to advise that we now back up and running again with a new gearbox and looking forward to the rest of the season.
