Guardians of the Past
In June 2022, thieves stripped the Andean Museum’s Gold Room of 69 priceless artefacts — treasures from Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia, some over two thousand years old. Their loss wasn’t just the theft of gold; it was the theft of memory. Each piece held the story of a civilisation’s wonder, its ingenuity, its way of seeing the world. Their disappearance robbed future generations of that connection, leaving a hole no replica can fill. Protecting our shared heritage isn’t a duty reserved for curators — it’s on all of us who explore, learn and live by adventure. To defend these remnants of human spirit is to keep our collective story alive and open to all who come seeking it.
