Since 2003 Defining Moments has been working with schools from throughout New Zealand providing unique curriculum related travel experiences for teachers and students alike. We believe in engaging teachers and students and helping them develop life-long skills and a passion for learning that extends well beyond the classroom. Teachers are the key to the success of overseas tour planning, but we re

cognise it requires high levels of time, commitment, and enthusiasm for this to be achieved. Defining Moments have developed and refined their programmes to ensure teachers get the high level of support and assistance required when planning international travel experiences. We specialise in travel experiences relevant to many of the subject choices within the curriculum. In particular we have developed very unique programmes in support of social science and language departments. SYTA Conference in Savannah, Georgia
Kristy and Katie have just returned back from attending the SYTA (Student and Youth Travel Association) Conference in Savannah. The conference allows connections to be made with new suppliers, as well as building on existing relationships, to ensure we get the best results for our tours. It's great to meet with tour operators and suppliers that also have the same aim of enriching the lives of young students through life changing travel experiences.
Kristy and Katie also took the chance to check out some awesome accommodation in both LA and San Francisco.

Aline, one of our groups operators, recently visited Samoa with her family for a winter getaway.
They rented a car for 2 weeks, toured Upolu with the lush waterfalls, fun natural rockslides and gorgeous swimming holes and took the ferry across to the quieter Savai’i for some of the best snorkelling and the dramatic lava ruins. They also visited a local college where we got to watch some of the students immersed in their art projects.
Highlights were:
Snorkelling over the giant clams with turtles at the Giant Clam Sanctuary near Savaia, Upolu.
Taking a dip in the stunning To Sua Ocean Trench, Upolu.
Witnessing the spectacular show of the impressive Alofaaga Blowholes and walking over the lava field on Savai’i.
When in Samoa you must try:
Try Samoan oka, a traditional island dish made with raw fish and coconut cream
