Took these two chaps out to explore the Poor Knights and catch a feed for dinner last summer. Many laughs were had and should be a good watch 😁

How's this for a Kingi 😆

A little while back a long overdue opportunity to catch up with some mates wasn't looking flash with a very average forecast...

The call was made to get out on the water regardless even if we just ended up snapper fishing in a sheltered bay...

On this particular day with heavy offshore winds we decided to hug the coast and do some live baiting for kingfish.

After a slow start we got a little bite which at first we suspected was probably a Snapper.

Shortly after... we sighted the fish and were all shocked with surprise to see a what looked like a reasonable YF Tuna!

As we were on kingi gear with a very short light trace we got stuck in hoping for a quick clean battle...

After getting the fish close a couple of times and due to our light setup it soon became apparent it was not going to come easy with the fish digging it in continuesly as the fight drew out!

Geoff did a very solid effort on the rod without a gimble or harness for the majority of the fight.

After a long, nail biting, close quarters tussle Fred managed to get a deep water gaff shot with the fish still going hard!

We boated the fish and couldn't believe it was even bigger than we had expected!

This Yellow Fin was the fish of a lifetime for NZ Waters and due to the nature of the catch made it even more memorable for us!

We decided to Gut and Gill the fish and ice heavily to optimise best eating quality so the fish never made it to the weigh station unfortunately.

Measurements taped it out to 70kg+

Goes to show you never know what you might catch or where you might catch it as long as you're having a go.

This fish was caught a stones throw from the rocks on the coast...

That's whats so cool about fishing and keeps us coming back for more!

Putting posts up on here certainly isn't our specialty and at times I'm often too busy to even get photos. However it seems we must be doing something right as FishTutukaka was voted top tour company of the year in Northland at the Travel and Hospitality Awards for 2025!
Fully stoked on this one and thanks to all for coming and making memories with us!

Happy Easter Everyone!

Can't believe it's that time again to set our clocks back and slowly say our goodbyes to the amazing summer that it's been!

These easterlies will be helping to keep the warm water around and earlier this week we encountered a school of Mahimahi so things may not be over just yet 🤞

Here's hoping for some settled weather over the next month or two and all the best for the Autumn!

Hi people!

Hope everyone's enjoying this stunning start to the summer season...

May I please ask if you can spare just ONE minute of your precious time to go ahead and sign this submission before Friday...

Despite what you may have heard I don't believe we are getting the full story of what the long term future plans are with some of the decisions been made with the management of our fisheries and marine parks at the moment.

I highly recommend for our own good as Kiwis and the protection of conserving our precious resources and future enjoyment of recreational ocean activities, fishing particularly, we all make sure if nothing else we go ahead and sign this submission before Friday.

Many thanks and here's to a bountiful, cracker, safe season for all 😁

With all our weekends already fully booked through spring up till Xmas we encourage people wanting to do work do's etc to book any remaining days while they're still available....
I've got people asking when does the game fishing start and with so many variables that influence this it's always hard to say for sure until the fish are here...
Last year the Marlin and Tuna showed early with things kicking off in November so be interesting to see what this year brings...
One things for sure, you won't know if you don't go...
Take care everyone and here's to the season ahead ✌️

We hope everyone's enjoying this incredible start to summer! The gamefish have turned up early this year and although we haven't had a go ourselves yet there's been plenty of other good fishing... Let's hope it just keeps getting better!
