The Blue Goose Papermill Charitable Trust The Papermill is a vibrant creative space where artists with intellectual disabilities craft beautiful handmade paper.

This is a very exciting story of a bold and courageous journey for a team of papermakers with unique abilities. Nowhere else in NZ is there a working papermill using completely recycled materials, making totally handcrafted products. The Papermill delivers meaningful work experience for people with intellectual disabilities. The facilities in Whangarei are available to the public as an educational and tourist attraction. And if you like shopping - then come and see us too - our shop is full of interesting art and paper products - all unique pieces - handmade - here in Whangarei, New Zealand.

Calling on our community for paper bags! Our supply of grocery paper bags is running low, and we put every one to good use, storing fibre and lining our rubbish bins. Sometimes the best gifts are the practical ones. Joe Worthy has built and installed a new bath in our Papermaking Studio so we can work with an A3 mould and deckle comfortably, with room to move. The old one worked, but only just, and this makes papermaking soooo much easier for everyone in the studio.

We are so grateful for all the work Joe has done for us over the years, including this latest offering. We don't take it for granted. Thank you Joe - from the heart, from all of us!!

We are so grateful to Creative Northland for this wonderful donation! 🙏

We are already getting creative with our gifted Cricut Maker and loving every minute of exploring what it can do with handmade paper.

Funds raised through our Will & Able fundraiser are going towards essential accessories like mats and blades, helping us get the very best out of this amazing piece of equipment.

Say hello to our beautiful mangle!

We are so excited to introduce this stunning piece of equipment to The Papermill whānau. Not only does it add a touch of history and character to our studio, it will be put to very good use — our Papermakers will be using it for printing as part of their creative practice.

As you can see from the before and after photos, this mangle has had quite the transformation! A huge thank you to John Williamson for his generous donation, and to Rudolphs in Whangārei for the incredible recoating work that brought it back to its former glory.

We love and appreciate it when community generosity and craftsmanship come together like this.
