paradise flycatcher
The African paradise flycatcher is a noisy bird with a harsh scolding call. It has short legs and sits very upright whilst perched prominently, like a shrike. It is insectivorous, often hunting by catching flies on the wing, and eating eggs, larvae and adults. It also feeds on spiders and sometimes consumes berries. The cup-shaped nest is built in a tree and a clutch of two or three eggs are laid.

Since the eyes are fixed into these sclerotic tubes, they are unable to move the eyes in any direction. Instead of moving their eyes, owls swivel their heads to view their surroundings. Owls' heads are capable of swiveling through an angle of roughly 270°, easily enabling them to see behind them without relocating the torso.

The start of the breeding season varies from mid-March to early May. Western marsh harrier males often pair with two and occasionally three females. Pair bonds usually last for a single breeding season, but some pairs remain together for several years.
It feeds on small mammals, small birds, insects, reptiles, and frogs.

تختلف بداية موسم التكاثر من منتصف مارس إلى أوائل مايو. غالباً ما يقترن الذكور  بأنيثين وأحياناً ثلاث إناث. عادة ما تستمر الروابط الزوجية لموسم تكاثر واحد ، ولكن تبقى بعض الأزواج معًا لعدة سنوات، تتغذى على الثدييات الصغيرة والطيور الصغيرة والحشرات والزواحف والضفادع.

حيوان ليلي نشط عند غروب الشمس حيث يقضي النهار كاملا في الجحور على جوانب الأودية حيث كثافة الغطاء النباتي، أغلب طعامه الحشرات و الثمار و يصطاد الطيور و القوارض، يفضل التنقل على الأشجار و الأماكن المرتفعة، حجمة مقارب لحجم القط و له ذيل طويل مخطط كثيف الوبر مطرز بحلقات سوداء، حيوان سريع الحركة و مراوغ بدأت تأعداده تقل في السنوات الأخيرة. أكثر ما يهدد حيوان هو عند عبورة الطريق ليلا فيتعرض للدهس بسبب المركبات.

The winter diet is mainly plant material including seeds and rhizomes of aquatic plants, but the pintail sometimes feeds on roots, grain and other seeds in fields, though less frequently than other Anas ducks.[12] During the nesting season, this bird eats mainly invertebrate animals, including aquatic insects, molluscs and crustaceans.
