We have been fortunate enough to travel to many places as a family, and Morrillo is an absolute favorite. We traveled with our kids (8 & 10) and another couple with similarly aged children. The staff is so gracious and attentive. Cari and Ryan are incredibly attentive and helpful in planning your trip, so once you arrive everything is arranged. We did the all inclusive package, so we could literally leave our wallets in the room and just enjoy our vacation. The food is incredible (see the restaurant review for more details), but the staff is the true highlight. Stephanie was so kind with the children, always had activities and games to share, taught them some Spanish and made each kid feel special and welcomed. Nelson was also great with the kids, a model of efficiency as a server, and served as our intrepid guide on the waterfall hike. Alex came with us on several excursions as well, he is bright, friendly, and keeps the mood up. He played soccer with the kids which they loved.

The beach is straight from a postcard and so easy to access. The waves were great for learning to surf or boogie board. We took a surf lesson and did many excursions including fishing, the waterfall hike, snorkeling, and the soap lab tour. All of the excursions were amazing but our kids unanimously agreed the soap lab tour was their favorite. John and Melissa have created an incredible farm and produce soaps from the goat milk their friendly flock provides. There is much more I could include but suffice it to say Morrillo Eco Resort is an absolute gem and well worth a visit. Thanks to everyone for making our trip so memorable.

Melikki's Primate Rescue Center was created because life at our eco resort became more than creating an incredible experience for global travelers - it became a true responsibility to the nature that surrounds us. A very important element of what Melikki's is, is the education that we share with our guests. There is much to learn from what we are doing here, and our guests are deeply moved by the experience to witness it firsthand.

Recent guests earned their primate badges by participating in an educational experience at Melikki's. During their visit, they learned about the threats Panama's primates face, how each person can help make a difference, and learned about one of our most important conservation messages: why primates belong in the wild - not as pets.

Be still our hearts as we introduce to you an infant Panamanian white-faced capuchin.

Last Sunday, an urgent call for help about a tiny, delicate, little three-week-old Panamanian capuchin monkey infant orphaned by its mother was in need of rescue. The baby - named 'Abu' by its rescuers, had fallen from its mother in an area where it wasn't safe enough for her to go to the ground to retrieve him. Efforts to elevate the infant to a safe place up in the tree to be reunited with his mother were unsuccessful as heavy rains set in and the troop of monkeys didn't return.

Mangroves are an important habitat for many species of birds, crustaceans, fish, and countless other marine life. They serve an extremely important role in marine and human environments; providing a nursing ground for sea life, habitat for birds and mammals, and erosion control for coastal areas.

Panama is in the top 20 countries of the world for mangrove area and we are surrounded by beautiful mangrove inlets that make magical places to explore via all sorts of crafts like sea kayaks!

Nuba wrestling sessions are about as cute as it gets and also a good source of exercise for her. She watches the monkeys around her wrestling with eachother and mimics their moves.

She will be paired with another monkey soon so she can wrestle for real but for now, we'll call this MWF training.
