Day 22.... LA
Did the Big bus tour in LA to tick off all the usual spots.... However, a highlight for us was taking a ride in one of the many driverless cars that are on the streets of the city! Crazy!!
And now back in NZ for a reality bite!

Day 21... Time to disembark the ship 😭😭 a couple of chill days at sea heading up the California Baja peninsula of Mexico before arriving in LA. We loved the 'at sea' days on this trip. A time to truly relax, read books, hit the gym(yes we actually did!!!), eat, eat, eat, try new cocktails, laze around the pool, enjoy 5 star dinner service at some of the many restaurants, live entertainment throughout the days and nights, casino wins and losses, quiz shows, shopping and so much more! Highly recommended!!!

Day 19.... Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

What an incredible day... We caught a catamaran down the coast to Majahuitas for some snorkeling in the tropical fish filled crystal-clear water, then continued on to Yelapa — a charming little fishing village that has no roads connecting it to the outside world — locals get around by foot, mule, or boat!

Day 17... Huatulco, Mexico 🇲🇽 Walked through the blazing heat to the town center, exploring the markets and soaking up the local vibes. Finished the day relaxing at the beach with delicious Mexican food and cold beers – perfection! 🍻🌮🏖️

Day 16.. Quetzal, Gautemala 🇬🇹

This was a bonus stop as one of our Mexican ports was unaccessible.
“Land of Eternal Spring” (although hotter than our summer) Thanks to its year-round mild climate and breathtaking landscapes, it’s home to 37 volcanoes, colorful colonial towns, and some of the world’s best coffee! ☕✨

Day 14...Costa Rica 🇨🇷
We visited a sloth rescue sanctuary (so many cute animals!), wandered through beautiful botanical gardens, and checked out a traditional oxcart factory 🎨🛞. The brightly painted Costa Rican oxcarts are so iconic they were declared a National Symbol of Work in 1988, now the whole country is colorful! 🌺🦥✨

Day 13... Panama City

Panama is a very rich country with a low cost of living..... Yet there still seems to be a lot of poverty.
We had a great excursion traveling inland and up river to be hosted by the Embera people in their village. Was great to see some local culture and hear about their history.

Day 12... Panama Canal

Panama Canal – one of the world’s greatest engineering marvels! We really knew nothing about this prior to the trip.... But wow! Our ship was purpose built to fit through the old locks with 2ft to spare on either side.

A few fascinating facts:
🔹 The canal opened in 1914 and connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
🔹 Ships are lifted and lowered a total of 85 feet through a system of massive locks.
🔹 Around 40 vessels pass through each day, saving nearly 13,000 km (3 weeks) of travel around South America.
🔹 It takes about 8–10 hours for a ship to make the full journey through the canal.

Panama makes in excess of 2.5 billion dollars after expenses a year from charging vessels to go through. Our ship cost nearly a million dollars just to do the passage.

Such an amazing experience to see it all in action!

Day 9 Aruba...
A tiny festive island in the Caribbean. About 30km long and 9km wide, with a population of 108,000. It's officially part of the Netherlands! Gorgeous beaches, gorgeous people, gorgeous architecture! Lots of development going on, as if you own land you must build on it or it's taken off you. The land that isn't developed is literally dry dirt and cacti!

Day 7... Grand Turk
Grand Turk is the capital island of Turks & Caicos, white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and laid-back charm. Home to wild donkeys aka Turks reindeer and flocks of pink flamingos. Air Temp was a balmy 29 degrees and the sea was 29.9°C!!!
