Sacred Valley, Peru is extraordinary! 🇵🇪

For active and adventure-focused travelers, this is one of the most compelling places I’ve experienced:

• Hiking that equals Patagonia and Switzerland for sheer natural beauty
• Horseback riding across the high Andean plateaus
• E-biking and mountain biking through incredible scenery
• Kayaking on high-altitude lakes
• River rafting in deep Andean valleys
• Via ferrata and zip lining — with the option to sleep in glass capsules built into the cliffs

And the people are extraordinary; highlights of my trip:

• Spending the day with a Quechua community, many of whom had little interaction with outsiders before 2019
• Visiting artists who shared Andean folk craftsmanship and cuisine with such feeling that I was moved to tears
• Wine tasting with a self-made agricultural engineer who is reimagining high nutrient potatoes and wine in a way that is nothing short of visionary

Ahora que está cerrado Machu Picchu y el Camino Inca que te lleva a la maravilla del mundo, se me ocurrió regresar visualmente a esta aventura. La última vez que la hice fue con e hicimos el camino Inca de una dia, el famoso Inca Trail express: que comienza en el Km. 104, sube por WiñayWayna, uno de los recintos arqueologicos más lindos que hay y luego conecta con la última sección de los que hacen el Camino Inca de 4 días, llegando a IntiPunku desde donde se desciende a MaPi. No hay mucho que decir, más que dejarse llevar por los paisajes, la naturaleza, la idea de que “por acá caminaron los Incas” y recargarse de historia y energía (aunque con cada paso también se iba). Viajemos un poco por este camino que ahorita anda cerrado y ojalá que no le pase nada por tanta lluvia que cae! Andes vivos!

A few weeks ago, we visited Andean’s new property in Tinajani with our friends Mario and Jeanine (Mondoverde Expeditions), and it exceeded every expectation.

Tinajani is a magical corner of Peru — dramatic geology, unique vegetation and wildlife, and surreal rock formations shaped by thousands of years of wind and rain. In the middle of this vast Andean landscape sits a small luxury glamping, beautifully restored from an old farm and perfectly blended into its surroundings.

It’s exciting to have places like this, where we can bring travelers to remote, extraordinary locations without sacrificing comfort, service, or authenticity. Officially one of my new favorite places in Peru!
