There's something that happens when the ocean touches your skin. 🌊It's not just cold or warm water: it's the feeling of connecting with something far bigger than ourselves. That same sea that heals us, calms us, brings us back to ourselves, is the same one that today receives tons of plastic, chemicals, and waste every year.
What we often don't see is that nothing in nature exists alone. Coral reefs protect coastlines and sustain thousands of marine species. Bees pollinate the plants that feed the entire planet. Forests regulate rainfall, air, and temperature. When one species disappears, it doesn't go alone: it takes with it a balance that took millions of years to form.
The extinction of flora and fauna isn't a distant or unrelated problem. It's the reason we're seeing more droughts, more storms, more extreme summers, emptier seas. Climate change isn't a future threat: it's the consequence of a balance we've already begun to break.‼️

They may look similar, but they are very different animals. 🦙👇🏾

Llamas are larger, with longer necks and faces, and are often used as pack animals.
Alpacas are smaller, have rounder faces, and are known for their soft, valuable fiber.

Quick differences: 🙌🏾

✔️Size: llamas are bigger than alpacas.
✔️Face and ears: llamas have longer faces and larger ears; alpacas have shorter faces and smaller ears.

When we hike through the stone trails of Cusco, we usually look up searching for the mountains. But if you lower your gaze toward the moss and branches in the semi-tropical zones (like the trail to Machu Picchu or the valleys of La Convención), you’ll discover a wild botanical universe. 🌿✨

Peru is home to thousands of orchid species, and Cusco’s eastern slopes are one of their most spectacular sanctuaries. Here are 3 biologist facts to help you see them through a different lens:

🧬 The Perfect Neighbors: Contrary to popular belief, wild orchids are NOT parasites. They are epiphytes; they perch on trees solely to reach the sunlight, without stealing a single nutrient from them. Plus, they absorb water directly from the forest mist.

💧 Flowers That Cry: The famous "Waqanki" (meaning "You will cry" in Quechua) features incredibly long petals that mimic falling tears. An Inca legend tells that this flower was born from the tears of a princess who was separated from her forbidden love.

🌿 Eternal Youth: The "Wiñay Wayna" ("Forever young") adorns the trails with vibrant fuchsia clusters so resilient that the Incas named one of the most beautiful archaeological sites along the Inca Trail in its honor.

Located in the historic heart of Cusco, the imposing Qorikancha was the most important temple in Tanwantinsuyo and one of the most powerful spiritual centers of the Inca civilization. Dedicated to the god Inti, its walls--once covered in gold ---reflected the sacred connection between the sun, the earth, and humankind.

With the arrival of the Spanish, the convent of Santo Domingo was built on top its foundations, creating a striking contrast between Inca and colonial architecture. Today Qorikancha stands as a living symbol of history, resilience, and cultural heritage.
