Things you should know before visiting Machu Picchu:

✅ Entry Restrictions: Machu Picchu has limited daily entry, so it is important to book your tickets in advance. You will also need to choose a specific time slot for your visit.

✅ Altitude: Machu Picchu is located at an altitude of 2,430 meters (7,970 feet), so it is important to take precautions for altitude sickness. You may want to acclimatize yourself to the altitude by spending a few days in Cusco or other nearby areas before visiting Machu Picchu..

✅ Weather: The weather at Machu Picchu can be unpredictable, so it is important to come prepared for rain or sun. It is recommended to bring a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable walking shoes.

✅ Guided Tours: It is highly recommended to take a guided tour of Machu Picchu to learn abouthe history and significance of the site. Guided tours can be booked in advance or at the entrance of the site.

✅ Packing Restrictions: There are certain packing restrictions for visiting Machu Picchu. For example, backpacks larger than 25 liters are not allowed, and plastic water bottles are not allowed to reduce waste. Have you always dreamed of visiting Machu Picchu? ⛰

Here are some useful tips to consider for your visit:

- Spend a day in Cusco or The Sacred Valley to acclimatise before you visit it.
- Pack a jumper and/or rain jacket as the weather can change quickly.
- Book your train tickets and Machu Picchu tickets in advance online to avoid disappointment, especially during high season (April – August).
- Take snacks and water as these can be very expensive if you buy them at the entrance.
- Take a hat, sunglasses and suncream.
- How much time to spend there? 3 - 4 hours should be plenty of time to explore and take potos.
- Take you passport and get it stamped. The table stamp is next to the restrooms.
- Consider visiting Machu Picchu in the afternoon. There is less of a crowd, the light is better for photography, and the weather is usually better in the afternoon as well.

Things you should know before visiting Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain:

Things you should know before visiting Machu Picchu:

✅ Book your tickets early enough:
In the high season from May – October, we recommend booking your tickets at least 2-3 months in advance if possible.
✅ The fastest way to get there is by train: Peru rail and Inca rail offer different train options.
✅ Take comfortable shoes.
✅ Use the toilets before entering Machu Picchu: Once you go in, you cannot come out and re-enter.
✅ You can’t buy entrance tickets when you arrive at Machu Picchu. You can book them online or through a tour agency.
✅ Take water and snacks.
✅ If you are lucky, you can get pictures with llamas for free.
✅ You can go in with or without a tour guide.

This is RAINBOW MOUNTAIN🇵🇪🌈

📍The 2nd most visited place in Peru after Machu Picchu.

What you NEED to know⬇️⬇️

👉🏻 A day trip, located 3-3.5 hours drive from Cusco.
👉🏻 Super high ALTITUDE: 5.036 m., which is almost the elevation of Mount Everest Base Camp.
👉🏻 SUPER IMPORTANT: acclimatize yourself in Cusco for few days before hiking the Rainbow Mountain.
👉🏻 To avoid altitude sickness, chew coca leaves and take it easy to the top, the air gets thinner.
👉🏻 Wear trekking shoes, the terrain is rough, and also lot of layers of clothing cause it will be colder at the top.
👉🏻 If you need, you can rent a horse for the most of the hike.
👉🏻 Take your passport with you, vendors at the base of the mountain will stamp your passport for 2 soles (as in Machu Picchu).
👉🏻 There are toilets along the Trail.

🌈 Discovered in 2015, the colors of the mountain come from the rich mineral deposits compressed into layers over millions of year.

❄️ WEATHER: the best time to hike the Mountain is the dry season from May to October. We went there in August but just one week before the colors were covered by the snow!

🕘 3 hours round trip hike to get there. Highly recommended to visit the Mountain during sunrise to avoid crowds so be sure to leave Cusco at around 3-4 a.m.

🏁 STARTING POINT: 13°52’13.0”S 71°19’55.7”W - this is the parking lot at around 4.500m and from there it’s about 1h30 walk to the top.

💌 It was a unique and spectacular experience which was well worth the journey!
