Ollantaytambo is one of the best-preserved living Inca towns in Peru, located in the Sacred Valley at 2,792 m (9,160 ft) above sea level. Built by the Inca Emperor Pachacuti in the 15th century, it served as a royal estate, fortress, and ceremonial center. It is famous for its massive stone terraces, the Temple of the Sun, and for being the site of the Battle of Ollantaytambo, where the Incas defeated the Spanish in 1536. Today, it is the main gateway to Machu Picchu.

Tres Cruces de Oro es un famoso mirador natural ubicado en la provincia de Paucartambo, a más de 3,700 metros de altitud, en el límite entre los Andes y la Amazonía. Es conocido por ofrecer uno de los amaneceres más espectaculares del Perú.

Su mayor atractivo ocurre durante los meses de mayo, junio y julio, especialmente cerca del solsticio de invierno. En esas fechas se produce un fenómeno óptico conocido como el "Rayo Blanco" o "Sol Fantasma", donde la humedad de la selva y la refracción de la luz hacen que el sol parezca multiplicarse, creando la ilusión de ver dos o tres soles en el horizonte.

Desde este mirador llamado el "Balcón del Oriente", se observan los bosques nublados del Parque Nacional del Manu, los valles de Paucartambo y, en días despejados, el imponente Nevado Ausangate.

El cuarto día del Trek a Choquequirao suele ser uno de los más exigentes. Después de explorar la ciudadela, los caminantes dejan Choquequirao y descienden hacia el río Apurímac para luego iniciar el ascenso hacia Chiquisca o Cocamazana, dependiendo del itinerario. Durante la ruta se disfrutan impresionantes vistas del cañón del Apurímac, considerado uno de los más profundos del mundo. Es una jornada de esfuerzo físico, pero también de paisajes espectaculares y una profunda conexión con la naturaleza andina.
