Today was a wonderful morning with a perfect weather and fantastic views in the outside from Cusco city. Here it is our dear friend from Canada, Paddock who arranged us a private tour in order to visit three beautiful Incan sites located a few kilometer away from .
One of those places is , built out of immense cyclopean blocks of limestones which could be found nearby the site. In some cases, these blocks might weight around 100 to 140 tons each. The most representative kings the Incas had was Pachakuteq who redesigned the city of Cusco, he had it built in the form of a Puma (Andean feline), which was a sacred animal and totem deity of the Incas. So according to this zoomorphic rendering, the site is considered the head of the Puma. Nowadays, it is considered a sacred ceremonial place where important rituals of the Inca calendar were celebrated here. Today it is where the famous ceremony is still performed.
In addition, we visited , in the native language, Tambo means a collective accommodation, and Mach'ay, means resting place. It is considered a Templo in honor to the water, the ceremonies for the worshipping of the water were very important, and the main protagonists were only the men who followed the Inca priest including the supreme ruler "Sapa Inca" and his royal family. The dates when these cults were performed were related to important astronomical dates and were only for the ruling elite.
Finally, we made a short stop in which was a check point in order to control the entrance from the Jungle and the to the capital city . The construction shows different types and sizes of stones, usually of small proportions, so it supposedly fulfilled a military function.
