There are viewpoints.
And then there are moments like this.
Turquoise glacial lakes, snow-covered peaks, and the kind of silence you can only find above 4,000 meters in the Peruvian Andes. 💙🏔️
Ausangate isn't just a trek. It's a reminder that some of the world's most extraordinary places still require a little effort to reach.
And that's exactly what makes them unforgettable.

No oven. No kitchen. No problem. 🍰🏔️

Somewhere above 12,000 ft, our chefs
bake cakes inside a pot over a
camping stove — and somehow,
they come out perfect every time.

This is the Inca Trail most people
don’t expect.

Not instant noodles. Not protein bars.
Three-course meals, fresh ingredients,
and plating that wouldn’t look out
of place in a restaurant back home. 🍽️

Ask anyone who’s done this trek
and they’ll tell you the same thing:
the food might be the biggest
surprise of the whole journey. 😂

And the weather? Just as unpredictable.
One moment you’re walking through
thick clouds, barely seeing the trail
ahead of you.
Four days later, the sun breaks through
exactly as Machu Picchu reveals itself.

Fog to sunshine.
Camp food to fine dining.
Strangers to family.

That’s the Inca Trail. 🏔️

Most days look exactly like this in Ausangate:

Calm lakes. Golden grass.
Groups laughing over lunch.
Mountains that just sit there
looking pretty. 🏔️

That little stone tower in the first photo?
That’s an apacheta — stacked stones
travelers have built for centuries
as an offering to the mountain,
asking for a safe journey. 🪨

A small thank you to the Apu
before continuing on.

This is what most of the trek
actually feels like:
Walking through golden valleys.
Lunch with a view nobody could
ever get used to.
A group of strangers slowly
becoming friends.
And camp set up perfectly
before you even arrive. 🏕️

That color doesn’t come from a factory. 🧶

It comes from nature itself.

This is Chinchero — called
“The Birthplace of the Rainbow”
by the Quechua people. 🌈

And that smoke rising from the
clay pot? That’s history being made.

Plants, roots, seeds, and ancient
Andean ingredients gathered from
the mountains around Cusco.
Zero chemicals. Zero factories.
The same process used for
over 500 years. 🌿

And those patterns on the textiles?
Every single symbol means something:

🦅 The condor = the world above
🐆 The puma = this world we live in
🐍 The serpent = the world within the earth

Three animals. Three worlds.
Woven into every piece by hand.

Then Maras — where Andean hands
still harvest salt from the same
4,000 ponds carved before
the Inca Empire existed. 🧂

And Moray — mysterious circular terraces
believed to be an Inca agricultural lab,
where temperature differences between
levels allowed them to simulate climates
from across their entire empire. 🌀

One day in the Sacred Valley.
Three thousand years of history. 🏔️

Nobody tells you about the llamas. 🦙

You’re deep in the Inca Trail,
legs burning, pack on your back —
and suddenly a llama just
appears on the path.

Completely unbothered.
Completely in charge.
Completely Andean.

This is what 4 days on the
world’s most famous trek
actually feels like:

Not just ancient stones and
mountain passes —

It’s your guide knowing every plant,
every cloud, every wind shift.
It’s the green so intense
you forget what grey looks like.
It’s a team of people you just met
becoming the people you’ll
talk about forever.

The Inca Trail gives you Machu Picchu
at the end.

But it gives you all of this
along the way. 🏔️

Three people. Three chairs.
One view that stops time. 🏔️

This is Ausangate —
where the Quechua say the mountain
doesn’t just watch over you.
It unites you.

Locally known as “the Apu that
gathers the family” — its glaciers
feed every river, every lake,
every valley you see here.
Without this mountain, nobody
could live at this altitude. 💧

And those llamas walking past?
They belong to the mountain.
Ausangate is considered their
sacred guardian and protector —
the Quechua have believed this
for centuries. 🦙

The landscape shifts constantly here.
One moment: golden plains with
grazing alpacas.
The next: turquoise glacial lakes
mirroring a sky so blue
it doesn’t look real.
Then: red slopes, rainbow colors,
and a glacier watching over all of it.

No two days look the same.
No two photos tell the same story. 🏔️

Most people hike to Rainbow Mountain.
We said: hold our helmet. 🏍️❄️

Vinicunca on an ATV —
because some mountains deserve
to be approached with a little more speed
and a lot more adrenaline.

17,060 ft. All white. All wild.

When snow covers the colors,
Rainbow Mountain transforms into
something completely different —
a world that looks like it belongs
on another planet. 🌨️🏔️

LNo long hike.
Just you, an ATV, and one of the
most surreal landscapes on Earth.

And yes — it’s as epic as it looks. 😂🏍️
