Our founders boldly discovered ancient ruins and explored unchartered rivers in the Andes, spearheading tourism in remote regions. Alpamayo earned global recognition in 1966 when it was voted the “Most Beautiful Mountain in the World” by a survey among mountaineering experts. This is every climber’s dream, and is one of the most striking landscapes you can reach on foot. 😍🥾

To get there, you will have to trek above 4,000 meters, cross mountain passes over 4,500 m, and reach its base camps after several days on the trail. All of that, including close-up views of peaks like Artesonraju along the way. 🏔️

The Cordillera Blanca rises above 6,700 meters, a mountain range where snow peaks sit within a tropical latitude, something you won’t find almost anywhere else. 🏔️

In a single trip, you can hike to Laguna 69, cross Punta Unión at 4,750 m on the Santa Cruz trek, or reach valleys like Quilcayhuanca with a low number of trekkers.

You might spot vicuñas grazing at altitude or condors riding the thermals above the valleys. 😮

If you are interested in the history of this region, you can relieve it in places like Chavín de Huántar, a ceremonial site built over 3,000 years ago that’s still standing today.

With every journey we do, comes ongoing work to protect the landscapes where we pass through. 🥾🌱

In our latest Impact Report, we share how we became a carbon-positive company. Making contributions to ecosystem restorations, supporting conservation efforts across more than 3,000 hectares, and working alongside over 700 local guardians. 🙌🏼♻️

This is part of how we organize our trips, with long-term responsibility in every region we visit. 💚

Yesterday, we celebrated 51 years of Explorandes with the presentation of Peru: 50 Years of Adventure, a milestone that brings together the story of what has shaped our path over the past five decades. 🧡

This book would not exist without the 30 co-authors who contributed their time, perspective, and experience. We are deeply grateful for the role each of them has played in building what Explorandes is today.

As Alfredo Ferreyros shared, Peru “is unique, megadiverse, and holds an extraordinary richness still to be discovered.” 💫 🇵🇪

In the words of Guillermo Reaño: “Alfredo is a teacher of idealism, a true Peruvianist. That is his legacy.”

Thank you to everyone who made this project possible, and to Intursa for their support and partnership. 🙌🏼

The B was at Explorandes 🧡

Choosing to be a company also means choosing to take responsibility: for the people, communities, and the environment.

Being part of the B movement challenges us to measure our impact in the world, to continuously improve, and make decisions that are aligned with a clear purpose.

This week, we welcomed Sistema B to our home for a day of learning, conversation, and great shared energy. We talked about what it means to be a B Corp… and yes, there were laughs and photos with the giant B 🙌

Thank you to Sistema B, Empresas B, and especially Carol Cuzcano and Juan Ríos for leading this session and helping us deepen our understanding of what it means to be a B Corp and its implications.

We will keep learning and taking care of our world every day.

At Explorandes, we’ve been working together with Regenera to reduce the impact of our emissions and move toward a regenerative tourism model. The objective is to create value in the trips that we offer, but also to care for the places where we operate.

This means that we take responsibility for the emissions that we emit when we design and go on tours. It is a process that keeps going on, and that requires commitment, transparency, and collaboration.

Sharing the purpose to push tourism in a more responsible direction, other companies like us also understand that their impact on the environment must be a positive one. 🌱

Huaraz has been officially named by Forbes one of the world's most worthy adventure travel destinations of 2026.

According to their article, global travelers are gaining interest in places that offer experiences with challenges, nature and activities like hiking. Huaraz is one destination that stands out in this list. 🌟

Having the Cordillera Blanca, the highest tropical mountain range on Earth, Huaraz has always captivated the attention of trekkers and mountain lovers. The only thing that has now changed is the global awareness. 🙌

What this recognition really reflects is that adventure trips are what travelers are seeking. They want less crowded places, amazing landscapes that involve great effort but reward them with the views, and destinations where timing, logistics, and learning about cultures are key.

This international recognition also aligns with the work being done on the ground. At Explorandes, we have been operating in the region for decades, developing high-quality programs such as the Great Inca Trail, Huayhuash, and other routes in Áncash, always focusing very strong at the quality, sustainability, and cultural viability. All part of the values that have defined us for more than 50 years. 🌱 🧡

Huaraz is extraordinary, come visit it with us at https://www.explorandes.com/places-to-visit/huaraz
