Trek around the Sibinacocha Lagoon.
It is a spectacular and lonely trekking tour around one of the largest in the , located at 4870 meters high. In the horizon of the lagoon stands out above others for its peculiar flat shape the , which has a horizontal extension of hundreds of meters, ideal for studies of glaciology and the effects of climate change. Even though Quelccaya is bigger than ten thousand football fields, its total area has decreased by 35% in the last fifty years due to the climatic change. To the east, crossing some hills is the lagoon , which is framed to the north by a snowy mountain range of beautiful peaks of more than 5500 meters.
The peasant community of is the nearest populated center. The of the at its square is one of the oldest in the South Andes, built in 1767 at almost 5 thousand meters altitude.
