It lives mainly in humid montane forests of the Andes,
Mountain forests and cloud forests.

It occurs in several Andean countries, including Peru.
It mainly feeds on fruits and berries, so it is often associated with montane forests rich in fruiting plants.

Mariano is working on finding more new species besides the hummingbirds at this elevation in Chusac, higher up from Paucartambo. He also has other species, such as tanagers and finches, and now he has a pair of Undulated Antpittas.

I was keeping track of the birds I saw. These kinds of places make it very easy to add species to your list, but there is always something new to learn.

For me, it is becoming harder to focus only on seeing birds because I am always thinking about photography. Still.

2,302 species is a pretty good number. I should probably have more than , but I mainly take photos rather than keep a life list.
