📌 Palccoyo – Cusco 📌

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain is often seen as a more accessible alternative to Vinicunca, with a shorter and less demanding hike through the Andes.

But the experience goes beyond the colorful mountains themselves. The area is also known for its stone forest, wide mountain landscapes, and the seasonal red river that appears during certain times of the year, all surrounded by scenery that makes you forget the rest of the world exists.

Paracas is one of those destinations that can be enjoyed any time of the year.

As you explore the coast, you can take boat rides to the Ballestas Islands, spot sea lions resting on the rocks, and observe seabirds gathered along the cliffs and rugged coastal stones, bringing life to the dramatic scenery.

Together, they create a striking contrast that makes this coastal journey truly unforgettable.☀️

📌 Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Rainforest 📌

For nature and wildlife lovers, Puerto Maldonado is a truly rewarding place to explore.

As you move through the river and deeper into the rainforest, you start noticing more wildlife around you: monkeys moving through the trees and birds hidden between the branches, easy to miss at first. It’s a different way of experiencing the natural world.

The landscapes, history, and atmosphere around these sites feel completely different once you’re actually there.

📌 The Inca Trail – Cusco 📌

Walking the Inca Trail is a journey through history that goes far beyond the final arrival at Machu Picchu. Along the way, you come across different archaeological sites that appear almost unexpectedly as you move through the trail.

The altitude and the constant climbs make you work for it, but that mix of effort and everything you come across is what makes it stand out.

📌 Maras – Cusco 📌

The salt mines of Maras have been in use since pre-Inca times, and people still work them the same way today.

Hundreds of small pools spread across the hillside, each one filled and harvested by hand, following a process that hasn’t changed much over time. From a distance, it looks almost uniform, but up close, every section is slightly different. It’s not the kind of landscape you see every day.

📌 Ausangate – Cusco 📌

Ausangate, known for its remote routes and high-altitude terrain, can be a challenging place to explore. You end up adjusting constantly as the trail changes, and some sections take more effort than expected, but you keep going, and it ends up being worth the effort.

📌 Machu Picchu – Cusco 📌

Machu Picchu is often seen as a single viewpoint, but once you’re inside, it’s made up of different spaces, each with its own purpose.

1️⃣Inca Bridge: A narrow path carved into the cliff, once used as a controlled access point.
2️⃣Temple of the Sun: A curved stone structure aligned with key solar events.
3️⃣Temple of the Condor: A rock formation shaped to resemble a condor with outstretched wings.
4️⃣Intihuatana: A precisely carved stone set at one of the highest points of the site, aligned with the movement of the sun.

Places like these give a better sense of how the site was actually used, beyond just the overall view.

📌 Colca Canyon – Arequipa 📌

Colca Canyon is one of those places that throws off your sense of distance a bit. You look out and it feels far, but not that far, until you notice condors passing by at eye level and realize how deep the canyon actually is. That’s what makes it stand out.

📌 Huacachina – Ica 📌

Huacachina is built around a small oasis, with dune buggies and sandboarding shaping most of the experience. Out in the dunes, it’s common to stop for a moment, with the buggy nearby and sandboards resting in the sand.

It’s the kind of place you end up staying a little longer than planned.

📌 Inti Raymi – Cusco 📌

Inti Raymi is a reenactment of an Inca ceremony that marked the winter solstice.

It takes place every June 24th and recreates one of the most important rituals of the Inca calendar, centered around the sun and the changing of seasons. Today, it’s performed across different sites in Cusco, following the sequence of the original ceremony.

If you’re planning to be in Cusco around that time, it’s worth arranging it in advance — spots tend to fill up quickly as the date approaches.
