Flipped your yellow un**es around yet? According to Peruvians, yellow symbolizes "good luck" and the best way to kickstart the new year is to welcome Lady Luck in a pair of yellow underpants.

Peruvians wear these sunshine underpants inside out (but underneath clothes) until midnight; then, at the stroke of midnight, flip them around!

Holding immense geographical and religious significance, the 3000-year-old Chavín de Huantar is the ancient ceremonial and religious center of the Chavín culture, where one could attend and participate in rituals, consult an oracle or enter a cult.

With natural hot springs and a spectacular view of the Wantsan peak, this is one destination well off the tourist path but definitely worth the trip.
